Bow's durability

its come to a point to me now where ive found bow is the worst weapon to use to hunt with.

recently found myself an epic apus bow only to be majorly disappointed to find it has a max dura of 2.1k, a 300 dura increase from standard to epic doesn't seem much at all, especially on a bow

im not asking for a major dura increase across bows or asking for it to be increased at all.

its just bow has got a major kick up the arse in this server

Range reduced
evasion reduced
durability is not sufficient enough to be a valuable hunting weapon (with dura loss even on a miss)

heading towards skilling up another weapon as end game bows only seem like a pvp option to me


im not asking for anything in this thread its just my 2 cents on end game bows.

Bit of a joke when you used to be able to get 6k dura -O tags on Esoma ¬_¬, now 85 dex bows only have 1800

Slight "sky is falling" here, despite bow's range reduction and reduce in dodge, bow is still the defacto choice for dexterity.

Range 7 is still sufficient, people only notice it on high resolutions.

I do agree with the durability being bizarrely lower than other weapons considering it uses more.

Goes without saying that Bow is still in an amazing spot despite its nerfs as it's still the most used weapon (by far) on both races.

Bow dura goes down even when the target is missed, they also start at very low dura to start with, e.g thunder bow 1000 dura, along with the misses on average mob you're supposed to be hunting you might get 650 hits on the mob, 350 wasted dura. Have to carry a lot of them to hunt.

Suggestion: Up the dura on bows accross the board by 100%. Or change it so they do not lose dura on a miss, like all the other weapons AND slight raise in starting dura.


Think it was decided to be left by the looks of when I made the suggestion.

Knight swords also have only 2200 base dura & Raw swords 2000 even... bow is not the only thing that could use a slight dura increase.

That being said, a very large majority of the game still use bow (Myself included soon), and right now bow users have everything on a plate for them.. Range very useful against higher level mobs / pvp / cliffing for stats ect

There is no way a 100% dura increase should be implemented for only bow, thats just absurd.
Something along the lines of +500? base dura for ---ALL--- conti weps would probably be more appropriate
Would leave epic apus at ~2.9/3k dura (Which seems reasonable atleast) instead of the pitiful 2.3k or so it should have now

As an axe/bow character i still feel I've chosen the OP weps, even after the nerfs to both.
The range advantage with bow is too great, having to take 10 bows with me per hunt is a small price to pay.

Items just need to drop with random stats, you should absolutely have the chance of finding a bow with 5k dura for example. The whole regimented drop system is quite a bore, I'd love to see unique items again. Some diversity.

Bow range should be readjusted so that you are able to hit targets everywhere on the screen at the 800x600 standard resolution. It is annoying and felt by all players who play with the original Soma resolution. I believe it only needs to be improved by range+1.
