Dsoma upgrades items

Not heard much from ghost relating to breaking down upgrades(other than he was working on this) is this rdy for the 14th ?

The idea for this is to give dsoma more items to the drop files/trade (like human frogs/herbs), so its not just weapons that need to be rare in there own right but then drop untaged that gets npced

Asuming all the details wont be told, but a possible list of which items will be craftable from lower mats, also i think we would all be happyer if the drop rates of the new mats was a little higher, if that means we need more of them to craft so be it (after the feel of archiving somthing than going days without anything)

Id even pop in about breaking gems down again into dust form, so 3 ruby dust makes a small ruby ect,
So the drop rate for ruby dust could be increase (compaired to small rubys current) or added to lower mobs than wbm ect to give lower lvls items to trade

Also to pop in that we need a use for diamonds, and possible another use for emerald

Devils blood could also use another use (tho there could be alot held on mage chars current)

While working on the new mob drop list I've decided to delay this. Why? Because there are already a bunch of recipes which were ready to use and already ingame. I felt the drop file was already complete enough at this point, for now.

I am still planning to add these, but it has to be bigger than just the new mobs. The problem is also that the crafting recipes aren't as linear as on hsoma. Ie mare's blood is used for multiple things there whereas here each upgrade has it's own 'blood'. So it requires some thought.

How long will this be dalayed? Probably one patch. Depending how it goes I might finish it rather quickly, but it's not planned for the current patch at this moment.

I'd be more interested in adding con and other defence upgrades at the moment.

A way for devils to use diamonds and emeralds would be very nice. Its strange for top level mobs and bosses to drop gems that literally cannot be usee ingame.

Thats fine, however im worryed with dsoma drop rate current (the exp boost helped with the grind) tho im asuming the new lvls (101-110) will be alot slower

Being capped for awaile now and attempting to hunt for pod from apai has been quite dull, one week iv had 3 that spures me on to then lose conti, gain conti back to get none and lose conti again just makes myself and others loose the will to continue

Do we know what happens with rested after 100? It gets removed and we have to do 10 levels unrested? Or do we keep what we have built up at 100 going into 101, and no more?

I think mag stats will need to be adjusted for 110 and we need to keep them the mob everyone has to go to grind the majority of gear - maybe not pods or rubies, but everything else. Mags are just so well designed as an endgame mob: decent moral, some challenge, not just switch-off-brain-and-left-click, reward group hunting and multiple classes working together.

Gems in the new mob dropfile would be really useful because people might want to build proc gear/acc gear/ct gear and currently there isnt really a way to get saph/jade/amythysts in a way that allows players to actually work on that the same way as RDT or DTs. But we also don't want players in 35% acc sets! So maybe something like wbm droprate on rubies/amy/saph/jade on the new mobs would be good - and a way to put con on accessories.

As others have suggested there needs to be a real use for diamonds and emeralds in dsoma, currently they are utterly useless ( people don't even bother picking emeralds up from apai).

As RDTS now provide no defensive bonus any more, there will be no way to gain defense from accessories. Why not fix 2 issues in 1 and make an upgrade using a large diamond ( +2-0 defense, like a defensive KE ). Using a large diamond + [some random item/blood] . Muher guard/ hopper necklace / rings of perserverance ( currently useless items) now have the potential to be used for upgraded tank items.

alternatively a less elegant way (which doesnt recycle unused items currently ingame) would be to just add a +con neck/ear, and a +con tablet.
currently for some bizarre reason hwan bosses (megal/muher etc) drop a +5 wisdom necklace, add a con version of that to their drop file, and/or maybe a +con souls ear/necklace

And i know it won't be addressed because it hasn't for years, but can we PLEASE have a look at garg shaman / Drazil Druids / Fallen Trolls drop files, they are almost joke , and half the reason there are only 2 capped mages in dsoma.

With all the players that are going to return for the patch, and mages not needing to punch 30 levels anymore. this is a golden opportunity to give the mage class a leveling fix. Just like KL/WBM/APAI all have valuable drops (weps/rubies/eggs etc etc), mage leveling mobs NEED a useful drop, maybe amethysts or sapphires so they can work on procc vials for themselves.

Please just look at the egf / garg shaman / DD drop files and think honestly to yourself - Is there anything here that has value for me or any other class in dsoma? Is there anything exciting that can drop for me? (like getting an epic/intense/lego wep drop from KL)

There's some random accessories from the 7 hwan brothers. Though they're not so much fun to farm. (edit: just saw you mentioned those:P)

We are looking into more defence style upgrades. But this will probably come after the patch.

Thanks for noting emeralds and diamonds. I saw it earlier in a post and made a mind-note of it.

For now I have some quests to write.

I don't think you will complain about the drop file of the new mobs by the way. :)

As for drop rates - I have no feel for those. I don't have database access so I can't comment on that. Though I'm more than happy to look at the drop files of those mages mobs and request changes there.

The main issue with dsoma is how rare you want stuff

All mobs Final weaps are only worth rare+ for combines as most players wont use a epic weap anymore

Rubys again need to be rare and the drop rate is nice

Eggs are realy rare

I dont have a issue with them being rare, the issue is what drops when all items are rare ?

This is why i think our drops need to be broken down, if you broke small ruby down into ruby dust then drop rate of ruby dust could be x3 it is current ect

I think most people are happy with the rarity of drops as Jah said, eggs/gems/tablets all have maintained a very high value in the dsoma economy, (and sapphires/amethyst value is rapidly increasing because of proc gear in patch).

Weps and armor (except staffs and AoO's) are also still worth stuff , and have trade value.

I dont think many people want to see drop rates increased or see large rubies dropping from the new mobs, as it would flood the game, and after you have your fully upgraded +5 weps/armor you tend to lose a lot of motivation (especially if there's no gear reset in the patch)

The drops sometimes do feel very "spiky" as Jah mentioned, sometimes you don't get anything because drop rates for most items are low, other times you win the lottery and get 2 tabs from the same mag. I feel this has always been a part of soma, and adds a lot to the excitement of the mobs, but that's only my opinion on it. Some people love that, other hate it.

On a side note of the mage drop files, can we have the barr drops boosted? Hogs and apai drop 2-4K almost every mob, trolls drop maybe 2k every 3/4 mobs on average? Seems off as mages spend a lot more each hunt with mp pots on top, something similar to one of the top end mellee mobs would be greatly appreciated, having seen a few mages return after cap patch was announced it may keep them interested and add the forgotten class back in

@merlin I'll make a note of it in the drop file changes.

I know these are all old issues but thanks for bringing them up again. Better to fix it later than never.

Only the conti versions drop that barr, hwan/ic are same as trolls

Yes conti are better barr but they still all drop very regular, I used to make 2-300k profit per run, at trolls I barely break even

@ghostlord thanks, yes it’s been a while and asked for before etc but if we are to get some mages trying to level up it would be nice to get them to stick at it and this might make it a little easier 😊
