Int/Mage Concerns

I'm well aware this will seem biased coming from a mage but i am trying to be constructive so consideration would be appreciated.
As with many other people i can easily discard this char and return to levelling my others but it seems a waste to have a non-viable class

having been put through some testing tonight (i wasn't there) the feedback i have received is that mages aren't worth considering and 'seemed weak to me'
having spoken to 6 people that were there, 5 have said the same as above and one said ' seemed OK, specially if proc'ing'

i have since been on the test server again by myself and it would appear the same to me, as much as it is possible to prove anything between two players only

can any more thought be put into this class as it seems strange to have it ruled out by people so readily?
i know people claim the 'huge damage' if spell and proc work together, but having now gifted the same int attack proc to two classes that would opt to use it surely they will deal more damage and be 'op' if they proc? surely as a magic attack a mage should do most damage?

For these reasons i would suggest buffing the int a mage has for it to be a true option in pvp (maybe by 30 or so,
this isn't unrealistic as my axer now has the same md as on live server, and many classes will actually have more yet the int of a capped mage on live is around 260 so it is getting a 50 int nerf as is without the effects of extra md for the other classes too

the fact that casting is stopped the majority of the time (more so with the return of many bow chars we will see) surely when a spell actually does cast it should be capable of outputting a lot of damage

I've been on when mages were testing with the same stats as currently available on the PTR, and you are correct.

On the live server, if a mage gets to level 100 they are absolutely a 'glass canon'. On the test server they are a 'glass catapult'.

We all understand that mages will never cast if an archer is hitting them, because we have no evasion on dsoma, but in return for surviving really severe damage...when they do cast (or use 4th) on the test server they do about the same damage to my archer (which has 112 wis left after filling all stats) as a single hit from an axer. It's completely pott-able and not really much of a threat. It's a fraction of the damage of a melee aura and about half what they do on live.

They probably need a significant amount more int to make their magic even troublesome. I would say that melee who want to run int proc builds do too. When you have 210 int (proc melee and mage) and your opponents have 110 wis...the resulting magic damage is absolutely minimal.

This is where i think the issue lies

Archer
Str 195
Dex 195
Con 180
Leaves 114 points for wis (magic def)

Knuckler
Str 205
Dex 180
Con 205
Wis 99

Axer
Str 230
Dex160
Con 220
Wis 79 (magic def)

Sword
Str 210
Dex 170
Con 210
Wis 99

Spear (may be slightly out)
Str 220
Dex 165
Con 217
Wis 87

Because all stats are different archer gains highest magic def, in my opinion the stats just need tweaking a little to reduce other class's wis

Yes that has the same effect (however I will explain the issue with this ina minute)

As everyone’s str has dropped (attack) their con has dropped a similar amount (defence) so stays somewhere similar

Mage POV - int (ma) has dropped by 50 however wis (md) of everyone else has stayed the same, effectively full on nerfing a mage, whereas all other classes have maintained with the defence drop also

The issue with dropping wis is that procs from a mellee point of view will deal serious damage alongside the mellee attack (whereas a mage can be stopped casting so proc less)
And RvR devs NEED wis for their md other wise wotw is pointless

Which is why I suggested buffing the int of a mage as it leaves everything else in balance

I think you're right to be honest, they do need looking at

Damage seemed a little weak from laz on test and you'd expect more from a lvl 100 mage... that was when he actually managed to cast

i don't see a issue with mages tbf, yes they lost some magic attk (laz 3 hits myself with 89 wis, bring procs into it and hes almost 1 hitting me (hit and proc) weaken and its instant death (no other single class can do this)

normal levelled mages will have gained def, so can survive longer.

i understand the concern with casting, but that's nothing new, that's always been a issue

the bigger issue u have imo is that archers now do dmg, and due to there range will be the best class for pvp, so more archers will appear

i don't understand people saying '89 wis i have left' that is you CHOOSING to use your points elsewhere and ignore wis, that's the same as me choosing to not max con then complain all mellee do too much damage

any mellee char that decides to max int will also '1 hit people' but with a much higher proc rate as they cant be interrupted, the fact that they can hit+4th+proc is surely a scarier prospect than someone you can easily/actively stop being part of the game just using your own attack? mages currently do the similar damage as bow vs bow

weaken pants included it can be the same thing but everyone seems to gloss over this

if they are built to deal so much less damage per hit because they can take a little more damage maybe they should be made so that casting cant be interrupted?

If you were paying any attention it was 4 last night, you can't bring proc into it as that's gear, it's like me saying you 3 hit me but 2 hit me with a maxed spear.
If I go full con int and wis. I have like 70dex, so you can get a bow out like you usually do

Also, you mention the damage anyway and how mages don't cast, mages have always done damage.
You choose to not go wisdom. As i choose to not go dex

To also add. You only need wisdom to tank me, I need Dex and con to survive/cast

we could argue forever, I'm not here to do that, its for finito/isylver to decide

i stand by my first post, i think mages are in a good place, but that's just me, i do feel spear is under powered, but not said anything as i see that as me being biased towards the class i play, tho spose others have also made comment of this

i do think we all still need more tested, and i would have liked the GM's to have hosted a GVW, so we could see the effects of a proper war, tho i spose this will all be tested live come the 14th, and changes will be made over time
