I experimented with this a little before I went away with work.

It's the flip of a coin. I've forced fails then broke things going +2... On the other hand I've gone +5 back to back.

(Deamond was there getting annoyed as he kept breaking everything and I didnt get a fail in 14 upgrades).

Maybe that is taken into consideration as well, the amount of other people doing upgrades in the same time frame

I personally dont belive in them. My technique was just to go +5 as quick as u can (a matter of seconds). My theory being to why there a myth (of soma) is this;

Each time your item goes up, the % of the next success goes down. So how can failing on another item on +1 make a diffrence to the item your wanting to uprade in question?

Some people swear by them, some people disregard them - I think its a myth though tbh.

Humans can't generate random number sequences easily, even more so 15 years ago, have trouble dealing with conceptualising probability anyway and even ignoring that game designers would probably want to eliminate tail risk events from happening as they are off putting to users.

Wouldn't be shocking to find out it's not truly random and that after a fail your probability is above 50%, whether that's 50.0001% or 55% is anyone's guess.

If you have 5 upgrades, and 4 fail, statistically it's more likely that the 5th will work just on probability alone that all 5 would not fail.

There will likely be something in the code that we don't fully understand but as for failers, I think personally that they won't have much if any effect as the game likely treats each attempt as a fresh slate readjusting the success % for the + level at the current time on the item.

I just whack CT's on gear and hope for the best, been working so far.

My take on fails is a mixed bag. I used them to make my intense +8 stinger. This was done by getting 3 x fails in a row using dragons bloods. Once I had managed 3 x fails in a row I would stick the bow in. This worked that time.

I then tried the same method on 3 x pikes. One of them I started this process when it was already +7 and the other two were at +5 each. All three died going +8.

I also tried some titus boots which made it to +4 and died going .+5 using the same method.

The icing on the cake for me was the intense psycho bow which broke going +8, I did the fail method at every step with that bow.

I guess you could say that fails in short are quite good. But as you can see they are not 100% accurate.

If only I never broke that damn P bow.

P.S I’ve also broke over 20intendr weaps at various stages using fails.
