All weapons have their own attributes/advantages/disadvantages. It is certainly the case that each weapon has a strength that sets it above others. You cannot identify one element with one weapon and shout “unfair ref” if you don’t likewise offer the same consideration for all other weapons. They were never intended to be “equal” – they provide for a choice of character build and I am sure you will agree most players are using a combination of weapons to evolve their characters (Int/Str/Dex as obvious examples).

Like most people, I began with a bow a long time before the nerf(s). I also prefer building Dex (as opposed to Int/Str).

For the sake of regularity, here is a (in)complete list …

Bow is useless against Devils.

Bow users cannot go solo killing Magmas for their spoils unless they have elevated another class/trait first.

Bow dodge aura is weaker than its counter-parts.

All weapons (except bow) were buffed. Therefore bow does less damage than other weapons.

Bow (Dex build characters) lacks strength.

With regards to PvP, the most effective form of attack is with a group. A combination of stone, weaken and blasts of DB “appear” to be the most desirous.

How many people died in a 1vs1 PvP battle against a bow (whilst not using a bow themselves)? How many died to other weapons/circumstances?

In the world of PvE, a bow allows a character to engage a creature at distance (which is an advantage for sure). The lack of strength, however, slows the kill. Dura rape may be equitable but the lower attack stats of the bow and the lack of strength suggest levelling speed is mitigated.

Fair point. The realm of devils is different and I confess I share the same knowledge in this regard as a gnat.

As said before.. bow is pretty much the starting wep on hsoma.. not essential but the usual for most, to get some dex.
With its range and ease of use for pve mobs, no wonder its the 'main wep'
With various nerfs as listed above by jac, and the upping of the other weps, bow is nowhere near as op as it once was.
Bit late to change things now i'd guess, but with a further cap+ and mayb other weps given another att boost, things should equalise out a bit more.
Pretty sure Fin and Dan will have their thinkin caps on for the future stuff

Encore a few good points above but I’m noticing a common theme - anything Mutiny has over you needs nerfing (and you get the same classes you want nerfed to say it, so it looks more believable/noble) and anything you have over us needs buffing lol.


Not true...I can give many examples i.e. saying zombie pants should never be on dsoma even when I was in sinister and we had the most archers at the time (knowing it would benefit them most)...Also supporting Axe getting a buff when it was clearly ruined (probably before you started but 2nd was buffed), and again think we only had one axer in guild at the time...I can go on...

I genuinely want the server to continue with good numbers, and a diverse range of classes, atm it's clear there's only a couple worth playing.

90% of the problem with bow is RANGE - please bring in range balancing auras like in CTF and we can end this argument.

May also be an idea to put weapon specific recoil cap.

Peoples here went crazy as fk all of u begginers as shit none off u play the game as i play it talking about nerfed archers from range!!! U went crazy as fk peoples going archers for range, going axer's for deff, going magic for insane dmg, wth ur point holly fk nerf archer from range and then woot the low deff in game want him to tank u crazy nuubs wake up

Fair play Slayer, you are right about a couple of classes at best being worthwhile playing in dsoma.

Jac tbh I think people haven’t argued your points that much as you’re so deluded it’s not really worth the time lol.

Just to prove a point for Jac that thinks bow is underused or some crazy...

I took a bunch of guilds and looked at what each member's main wep was listed as. As you can see of melee across the guilds 73% of them had bow as their main weapon. I would almost guarantee 50%+ of the remainder would have bow as a secondary weapon which would bring that number over 90%.



Also I think Jac is the only person on Soma that seems to think +5 weps are a rarity.

With +5 weapons, any weapon can be upped (and are), not just bow.
