Is there a way to make it so that only kills on people within x amount of levels (say 10) counts toward your k/d?
Or just remove it all together, we seem to have many people wanting it for bragging rights on free/easy kills some in true pvp and the others who appear to repeatedly kill there own level 20 chars having gone grey to boost their own
Clearly defeats the point in having it

Despite the flaws with it, you can generally tell whose used tactics to up their kd or whose worked hard to pvp similar level chars to boost it. It’s a lot of work for the gms to sort out with little reward to the UC.

Just remove it, it’s pointless and just causes dramma.

Not like pvp has any skills in this game. Just who has the best gear/more pots

If you look at my K/D you’ll see I’ve been pk’d a few times for upsetting DL, but I just stood there and kept using Rez scrolls til they got bored. Could have warped at any point but it’s only a few Rez scrolls. Doesn’t affect my toon in any other way. This because K/D is pointless.

Nah if you look at deaths that was like 4-5 months ago :)

Poor because not long started at boars so going through 200 pots in about 5% of a level (not got the best Dex and these things don’t miss)

I think the game would be better off without it to.

Edit: If the community were bigger, maybe it would be a better thing to have. As it is, it just seems to encourage negative behavior.

KDR is a mark of skill and ability in most FPS games. But these are games where the difference between low and extraordinary skill is huge - that is not Soma. Soma is a game of simple clicking and potting, a lot of grinding and upgrade luck, and all that matters is having superior numbers or proc luck than your opponents. So, basically, KDR means absolutely nothing in Soma.

However, it creates toxic gameplay in Soma - where players will run from equal or unfavourable fights to preserve their KDR, or run around picking on weaker people to boost it. It's not a mark of skill, its a mark of guild domination and how well someone can decide when to be a coward, and when to pile in on people.

If it was removed, we might see a lot less toxic PvP since the tryhards who find pleasure in their ratio would lose interest in harrassing the weak for stat padding. We'd probably see an increase in team-based tactics in PvP in hsoma - since players would be willing to die to support their party through dropping stones/zombies or using harder-hitting melee auras.

I went through constant harrassment from 90+ from Korea and Angels guild. Sometimes for 6+ hours per day. And I was punching it too. It only made me more determined to eventually win out, but it makes the game unplayable and not worth the investment for many.

I don't understand the mentality of people who go clear out lower level mob hunters, especially when the people they are killing are unguilded or not in a rival guild. I suspect KDR padding has a lot to do with it. And even if they just do it because their parents didn't show them enough affection as children, without KDR people who are lower levels just trying to hunt in peace would actually benefit from the 2 death immunity mechanic. Hunting n peace would just have a 50k barr tax every 30 minutes or so, rather than being absolutely impossible.
