[SOLVED] devil delivery guards - skill training abuse

Author Content Date
there's a lot of people who have got 4th auras at level 30 now (should be more like 58-60) by skilling on the delivery guards.

they give no xp, have very high defence meaning most do 1 dmg to them with training weapons and do not do any damage. This has been abused quite heavily by people in Locos already and i think is a big gamebreaking issue.

needs remedying asap

Soon as they were made, it was evident this problem would arise.

100str (60def?)
50dex
20,000hp

People on HSoma received bans and stat removals from abusing the immortal mob bug to train con and skill.

It would only seem normal to dish out the same, or harsher punishments seeing as it's been displayed clearly that this gameplay style is not intended.

I kill the guards for the materials (however few in number) they drop, and people hurl abuse at me, despite this being the whole reason they were introduced.

Didn't Sylver say they were skill mobs when they introduced them? Surely then, getting skill is the point of the mobs?

The difference between this mob and the HSoma situation I see is that the HSoma mobs were unintentional and were randomly generated without ever dieing. This is quite different from a mob that was planned and spawns at a certain time and can be snatched away by higher lvls. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Skill gives bonus damage and auras - all of which are capped way before the level cap.

why would isylver make it so level 30's can have 4th aura lol. most ludicrous thing i've heard

thing is, high levels cant really be bothered to kill them, they drop 2 materials which you can farm on mordants or kivelas at 3 times the speed, or equivalent on inguits in conti for sgems.

if they dropped something worth looting like a stack of 20 of a material things may change.

The fact level 30 odd chars are running about with 4th axe, if I was an axer to be fair I'd be pissed off aswell.

I don't bother killing the mobs because well I'd simply rather be doing something else but the few times I have gone I've seen other high devils such as Genefuser getting abused by scrubs because they think they have the right to skill there and think the mobs shouldn't be killed even though those mobs are intended for mats.

Just want to add only one person has this that axer dude in loco's, i'm not fussed if people skill it doesn't benefit them in terms of being better than anybody else whats the problem that dude spent 10 hours a day and over a week to do it so it's time wasted for them if anything..

"Dsoma deliveries
Delivery guards will attempt to deliver to Lamatra let's hope no thieves stop the delivery"

Where did he say they were skill mobs? ; o
I thought they were to soften the blow to the insane crafting material requirements, but killing 9 of them yields approx 14 mats, almost all can be gathered a lot faster killing inguits for sgems on conti.

If skilling on unkillable mobs afk is bannable, why is skilling on these mobs alright?
More often than not, the people skilling on them don't notice the monster is dead for a minute or two.

Shouldn't they be named skillful guard or something that more suits their purpose in that case? Or perhaps make them unkillable if its just the for skill, why should it have to die?

They don't give XP because we don't want you to waste % on gathering mats, a concept I would like to expand myself. But this thread just seems to be filled with 'there's a minor issue with this so let's make a big deal out of it because we don't agree with how good it is' kind of attitude, maybe we should make them give XP and not allow any mat farming now and in the future until lvl 100?

These guys spawn once every 4 hours and are killable by everyone, if someone wants to spend a LOT of time killing them and waiting for them just so he can level on low mobs with a high aura I don't see the problem at all. If they are giving you abuse for killing the mobs - tough on them. You can either report it or ignore it. If you find people killing them afk, kill their mobs or report them.

ps. I do think they should drop piles of the basic materials especially rather than single drops.

Everything you've said here is ridiculous Ghostlord, it's not exactly a minor issue and a big deal should be made of it. There are level 30's with 4th auras...pretty game breaking if you ask me. I haven't logged into dsoma for a while and I'm currently hitting one of these mobs with a T-axe and have been for the past hour. I have 2 monitors so I can do whatever I want with soma open on the other screen. With no need to pot all I need to do is change axes every 2k dura.

Why is it a problem if low levels have 4th? How is it game breaking?

Does anyone hunt with 4th, except axers? Even then what impact does it have? Speeds up their hunting a little bit until they time they'd originally get 4th, by which point they'd be equal with everyone else?

It's not just about 4th, it's about auras in general. The main point is I can just leave the game running in the background and I don't have to do anything like I stated in my previous post. So at times when I have other things to do, whether it be around the house or work for example, theres nothing stopping me from leaving my char sat there auto attacking. If this intended then fair enough, I'll do exactly that so when I do have time to play the game properly I'll be able to do it with an aura I shouldn't have yet.

The fact that humans were BANNED and had stats removed for the exact same behaviour (Skilling and training CON whilst AFK on a monster that's not intended for skilling or whilst AFK) shows that it obviously has an impact.

First of all, you receive damage benefits from having higher skill.

Secondly, the point in having auras spaced out by Skill is so that you have a path of progression.

As there's pretty much no dynamic to leveling on Dsoma aside training your class' weapon, it's even more of a "big deal" than it is on Hsoma.

I must admit ive 'skilled' on these, well, ive read a book whilst sat on the sofa with the laptop etc,

Only way i can see to stop it happening, is raise damage so pots are required, or give them such good drops that people kill them asap at time 1

I don't see this as a bug or a design flaw, tbh. If someone wants to skill on them, let them. They're wasting their own time anyway. (As you can just level normally and gain skill slightly slower, but you get stats too.)

most people do similar to this when they hunt harder mobs, playing pocket healers or a second account leveling both at once, I think having 2 accounts running and gaining significantly is more game breaking than people burning 100 hours skilling on a mob.

and are we all forgetting abyss mobs, used for con/skill for low levels, this is not gamebreaking, dry your eyes
