Devil mage suggestion for patch

So since the devil stat change many devil mages now lower their stats and train AoE on low levels mobs. This is a bit lame I think personally and also stops mage related drops making their way into the market since nobody is killing ferals. Ferals recent exp tweaks have made them very viable to level on now which is greatly appreciated and my point of this post is to make a suggestion to make them more desirable to hunt while also helping fix a long term problem devil mages face.

Devil mages suffer from a lack of range with some of their spells in comparison to both devil and human archers and human mages. My suggestion is to create a new devil damage spell that has the same attack as explosion-X (since dmg isn't something we are lacking) but has range 6 and a higher mana cost to cast. To obtain this spell I think it should see a new item added to walkers and the new magic mob that will be implemented for a new item collection quest. Maybe make it collect 200 items to learn spell or something to similar effect.


As for the spell itself a recolour of the lightning spell (the one that runs on floor with cool animation) would be awesome maybe a green look to it! This gives mages something new to obtain whilst encouraging us to level on same level mobs therefore increasing mage related upgrades and boosting the trade market.

+1 EXP gains on ferals now seem alot better than a few months ago. I dont know exact comparison to EB now only what people tell me. think im getting around 10/11% an hour with full MA gear. This is definitely a great idea would definitely agree it should be hard to obtain and must be endgame mob farmed. I do however disagree with a MP jump. MP tends to be power relative and if this spell is to be used in the future for levelling nobody would use it at a higher cost purely for range as devil weaken is still range 4 aswell so would be no benefit.
Would love to see a quest for a level 2 weaken or weaken-x bit more duration and +1 range would be an absolute game changer from my perspective!

Honestly ibex mate I said the mana thing thinking people would feel negative about the idea I don't think it's necessary either. Weaken was also ony mind too but didn't want to put too much down. Cheers for reply

This could be good fun, even if its upgrading existing spells to level 2 or 3 much like hsoma
The range thing could be interesting, and it's not that op either as procs are the main mage advantage and they're all lower range anyway so that just wouldn't kick in
Lvl 109, I still got roughly 18% per hour at eb I think
It's purely down to the insane spawn rate of that top room

Also on a mage note:
Is there a reason mages cant use 2 auras at the same time much like all mellee classes

Oo Didnt think of that Deim. Even at level 70 i can hunt nightmare forever on hsoma. Using 2 auras at same time might encourage the naked grind due to never needing pots. This could be good! (obviously slower % but less faffing, i would opt for!)

Assume it's because mages only have defensive/passive auras? Could give mages some sort of attacking aura to allow them to benefit from dual auras... no idea what that could be though. Lack of (or lack of a decent pair of) dual auras has affected a few classes.

Could be worth just making it so 4th staff can be used alongside passives. We don't need anymore attack power 🙂

It would be nice to be able to run 3rd permanently while running 4th as it regens
And ibex, the reason hsoma need few mp is because their main attacking spells are about 7mp as you will know rather than about 24mp per spell :p
Maybe a slight drop in mana, maybe as a leveller up spell

Also myself and ibex were chatting last night, and we thought it would be a nice idea to actually see mages wearing robes as magic types should, so wondered about a high defense robe (higher def than invul) but non upgradable so you're forced to sacrifice proc (best form of mage attack) for survivability

yeah had quite a long talk about it. Feel most mages are forced into being a proc mage where as an unupgradeable high defence piece 50-50 def no MD no nothing (for Example) would be a sacrifice some mages including myself would make for a bit less glass cannon game play

Set it to 230 wis requirement to stop other classes becoming op tank
Wouldn't even need a tag system either

Just reverting back to the Feral walkers, i know they have seen alot of love but i think they have the Largest variety drop file out of any mob on armory. never noticed. Would be happy for diab, staffs and smalls to be removed =D

Mages choose to go full out attack with no defence or dex which is why they prob feel they are really squishy, there only 10 con behind archers let's not forget
