Idea to alleviate the 50+ bonus stat system for more enjoyable levelling

Str, Dex and Int to work the same way as weapon skill.

How this could work:
• Each stat has a cap.
• Total cap for Str+Dex+Int.
• Gain stats at lvl cap.
• Designate a stat to decrease when gaining another.
• Retain free mode.

How it could help:
• Hunt anything you want for gains.
• Total stat cap can be used to help balance HSoma V Dsoma.
• Removes healing for int scenario.
• Train con whenever you want.
• Re train your char when at stat cap.
• Potential to increase build variety for a more interesting and evolving meta.
• Does not break any HSoma character currently created.

I do not have a capped character in fact I don't even have one over lvl 30. After reading how you actually build a good character I realised it is functionally flawed and will drive new players like myself a way. The mechanics in this game deserve to shine and could appeal to a much greater audience.

However this is very much a hobbyist game of die hard players so maybe the few who play want it to remain without attracting new players.

you can level without 50 stat bonus and only be 3-6 stat behind someone who invests heavily in time to lvl this way.

you can easily compete when capping the average player route. assuming you get some lucky drops.

at cap the varied stats don't really matter so much. its all about the items.

It doesn't even make characters that much better. Going from 10-70 int took me from level 42-44. That equates to roughly 3% at level 110 whereas healing from 10-70 int takes easily 50, if not 100 hours, all for a tiny saving of exp in real terms. I think it's a fair trade.

The gap is even less with str / dex as the difference between +50 and +10 mobs isn't that much. Plus, the +50/+30 bonus ends at 131 str. Think how much of the overall experience you use up comes after 131str when we are all gaining stats at the same speed.

People massivley overrate the stat bonus and seem to think +50 chars have about 50 str and dex more than them. Not True.

Dont get me wrong, if someone leveled 1-110 on stige and wound up with 60 STR; even a char that leveled on -10~30 mobs will be amazing. Should we reward idiocy though? I dont think so.

Yeh, I didn't invest alot into stat bonus (infact, no 50+ mobs at all) and judging my character against someone who did invest, I don't come out that much differently really - not enough to break my character anyway, and certainly enough to compete.

I really, like so many other people when the server first started, had no idea how the in-depth mechanics of this game worked. I just played for fun! Luckily I had friends who put me in the right direction asap, others not so lucky.

I've spent 1000's of hours on Iselix.

Not starting again, no way!

I think the GM's should find a minimum level of stats, and each character can allocate at least that many points. Anyone who has done the *massively time consuming grind gets to keep the extra points they earned.

Too much nerfing in this game, just find the right medium between min required vs effort/time invested.

I do not care if I'm above or below any potential minimum BTW.

Can't take away the effort people put in, they earned their points. However, I really think that there should be a minimum people can allocate.

I actually kind of disagree when you say the difference isn’t that much.

This toon has 135 dex, 196 str and 120 int. it didn’t get any +50 love, but still levelled on the “correct” mobs

Compared to other people i’ve Spoken to (and seen pictures on forums) it’s more than a few less stats I have (not saying name but *blank* has 200 str, 140 dex and 130 int). That toon must of healed to 100 int and done +50 str mobs. I’m not complaining, it’s obvious they invested more time to should reap the reward. Just people need to stop saying it isn’t a massive difference, 19.0 is quite a bit

i havent even done the 50+ on this char, am just leveling normally if i can get a tank for BLG at my str then happy days if not then ill just go hoarde

new cap will change this again i think?
