So lets be practical here.

PK immunity is a system that benefits the GM's and the community from removing some of the negatives with community management.

Symptoms :-

Toxic community. Driven by some deep rooted rivalry. People take advantage of personal information and use it against one another (Precisely why I stay away from the facebook page and I doubt im not the only one).

When PK is disabled it spills out into vial text as though there is a overflow of anger and hate which is of a personal nature. Totally not normal and should never be accepted in the game.

PvP for none-110s or casuals are not dominated by people who with whatever means and time have managed to get equipment but are destroyed.

Subset of community feel that the 2 pk immunity system is too restrictive and prohibits the original Esoma feel and 'harshness'.

Subset of community feel there isn't enough protection for casuals against super chars / multis / otherwise hardcore players.

Facts :-

GM's do not have time to police this aspect of the game (and is a reason for the current 2 kill immunity system)

GM's want all parts of the game, including PK/PVP to be inclusive but self managing and self healing.

Resolution :-

- Remove PK immunity system - Allow free for all gameplay with following changes.

Controlling toxicity -

+Severely restrict use of world shout - used as a means to spread toxicity and implicate the community. A simple 1 time gloat / shout is enough. Restrict it to a use of once every 3-5 minutes per player
+Make going grey disable your shout ability for 5 minutes (again stops the deluge of crap)

Controlling PKing - Option 1 -
+Create a new banding system for level 95+ as follows
After level 95 - you are only able to attack people within 10 levels, after level 105, it drops completely to 5 levels and it stays there until level cap (110/120). So a capped player may only attack a 105 currently or 115 at 120.

Controlling PKing - Option 2 -
+Limit the effectiveness of high end gear in grey pk pending on the level of player your attacking. No one wants the high gear char to lose their advantage but it should allow people I think it would be a shame to limit upgrades to just +5 and would take away the grind to get something awesome.

Controlling PKing - Option 3 -
+Leave it as it is
+Keep the current immunity system

Personally I think the pk system is alright ish. From a GM point of view it’s great as self policed unless you’re a fool and fight back. Spawn harassment can’t happen now due to the rule so there’s another good factor.

The one thing I would change is world shout, I dislike the idea of having to be angel / devil to shout but I also agree the basic concepts of it are good. I would still like to try and sell / buy things using world shout even though I’m devil moral. The grey idea is great though, if you go grey then 0 shouting for 5mins. Obviously after 5mins it might turn into a shit show slanging match again.

As stated in another thread there’s very few people who cross the line the majority just have some light hearted jokes about the rival player(s). The problem is finding the balance between that and going too far.

PvP atm is fine, not perfect but ok.

The 2 pk thing is a great resource, for example when some members of DL were on their mass PK mission the other week, I just took my 2 deaths and carried on with what I was doing as I couldn’t care less about my k/d ratio

The only thing i’d like to see changed is the range in which you can pk someone. Drop it to within 5 levels, this just to make it a bit more fair. Fair in the sense that someone has the chance to actually pot/tp instead of killed in 2-3 hits

I'm for option 3. I think it's fine as it is but would like to see the level difference changed to 10 levels for the new patch as the difference between 120-100 stat and gear wise is going to be insane. TP won't be an option because you'll be dead so fast.

I think the 2 pk rule as it is works great for everyone. There are so many other ways to get involved with pk however I think too many people are just obsessed with the player feed and K/D ratio. I think if there's another round of crazy harassment the time could be upped to 60 minutes but I think 30 minutes is a fair time.

I agree with Tyrese fully about world shout. I just think imagine if you just found soma after 15 years and thought yeah that would be awesome to play. Log in for the first time and you're reading world shout.... Chances are you're not going to be thinking about putting in the effort to get competitive if the shout is next level toxic. Luckily 99% of the community are super helpful to new players so I don't think we lose many but who knows...
