REIGN |
There's a trick missing with certain aspects of the game.
And definitely needs to be more fun. If you ask me, it would be good to follow Lineage 2's style of upgrading system. That is to change upgrades from being such a big upgrade to being gradual and incremental whilst making more drops available. So e.g You can upgrade weapons upto +25 E.g +1~7 is pretty safe / risk free, +8~24 declines in success rates gradually That way GM's can willingly give you more drops in general and make the anvil look like its more forgiving. Hsoma mage mechanics need to rebuilt and an upgrade system needs to be almost separate from being 'useable' in pvp... Again, con needs to reviewed as a serious deterrant from people making chars / staying longer Hsoma mage - another set of mage mobs for NM. Hsoma warrior - another set of BLG type mobs with an 'opposite' drop file. EP and Ruby should be separated out? Devil Soma needs a big ass overhaul on drop rates in general which again would be fixed if the upgrade system was changed to +24, allowing GM's to make drops more numerous Devil Soma needs more items in general Devil Soma needs a second town and in general needs more NPCs A -50 recoil nerf on new bow drops is only one step towards fixing things bow dominance. A wider more comprehensive thing needs to implemented. A 3 second bow defence buff that all classes get? Allowing melee classes to..... melee? :) I appreciate everything that has happened in this game as a learning experience for the GM's but as Paypal goes, I would expect the GM's to have pocketed something and totally wont deny they shouldn't but at same time. It isn't about the end game and it never was, both worlds need fine tuning, some more than others. Likewise anyone caught buying items should loose the items as well as the associated characters and this is a time to be really firm on people. No bull shit, no second chances. You get caught, you lose everything. As for just being a cock in game or on forums, 7 day ban to permanent ban. No one needs to be told twice.

"REIGN" Bow is far from dominant please leave it alone ... here are the previously (now updated) facts; Bow is useless against Devils. Bow users cannot go solo killing Magmas for their spoils unless they have elevated another class/trait first. Bow dodge aura is weaker than its counter-parts. All weapons (except bow) were buffed. Therefore bow does less damage than other weapons. Bow durability is lower than counterpart weapons. Bow is the only weapon to lose durability with a “miss”. Bow (Dex build characters) lacks strength. Bow DPS (per se) is the lowest of all weapons. With regards to PvP, the most effective form of attack is with a group. A combination of stone, weaken and blasts of DB “appear” to be the most desirous. How many people died in a 1vs1 PvP battle against a bow (whilst not using a bow themselves)? How many died to other weapons/circumstances? In the world of PvE, a bow allows a character to engage a creature at distance (which is an advantage for sure). The lack of strength, however, slows the kill. Dura rape may be equitable but the lower attack stats of the bow and the lack of strength suggest levelling speed is mitigated. Bow recoil has been nerfed in the 2018 patch

And that's precisely why PvE and PvP should be split out differently and handled separately.
Keep your bows, even the attacks on par with other weapons in PvE but all weapon classes need to re-jigged in PvP and RvR. And at least that way, GMs would have a easier time balancing devil and human attributes. All weapon classes were meant to be equal or better in different ways, archer has too many advantages in PvP and is a big reason that the other weapons don't get a look in. Just like axe auras are generally all too good and 5th should come at a heavy penalty in PvP or the duration be reduced or the stoner suffers from fatique from using it. Something like that.

"NITE"Ok - First of all I'd like to get one thing out of the way. I have absolutely no Idea why TYRESE is even offering his view on double rates / drops if the character you're using and the gear you're using all belongs to FLICKTHEBEAN (MEANING - you didn't have to go through any hardship to get your hands on a good character (which you fucked up) and great grear). Cba to read the second half of this chip shop grammar shite. Calling a GM corrupt/bias, ban this melt.

And let me tell you this, I read this whole thread but every time I saw your name I got cancer reading what you had to say and repeating yourself over and over again saying that you think "it's greedy" or whatever. I can tell that the people with a greater understanding of the game and a greater concern for the game and community write more than four paragraphs so can you please stop posting in this thread because you have no place here since clearly you have nothing constructive to offer apart from salt.
Oh and secondly I didn't see you moaning when DL were the dominant guild for the longest time and Ghostlord who was clearly corrupt and everybody knew it was spawning them bosses and clearly un-banning their chars so they could have their gears back I could keep going about Ghostlord and you being a hypocrite and a troll with no insight nor any constructive Ideas to offer and if you was still playing your own char, you'd be begging Dan for x10 rates because you're atrocious at this game... ANYWAY, with that out the way.
I 110% agree with LUPI and NAKEDMAN, for anyone who has played this game for more than five thousand hours, they know what it takes and know how many hours of grind it takes to get those items that you require, WITHOUT PAYING PILOTS, WITHOUT BUYING GEAR.
The harsh reality of this game is that it's only desirable for those who have played it before and for those who can put hardcore hours and farm and grind for days on end. I would say that 99% of the UC are players who understand the game and players who have played other Somas. And the underlying reason on why NEW players quit the game is that the grind factor they have to go through in order to build a good character and to then upgrade gear is too much, LET ALONE to SUCCEED in upgrading.
I strongly think that allowing new players to reach level 100 or 110 much easier is the way forward and furthermore maybe increasing the success rate of upgrades to avoid players quitting because they broke something is a good idea, OR as FRINGE suggested, make it so that the item doesn't break but still adds the + next to it. But also I would like to add my idea which is already in other games and this would be for the DONATION STORE's benefit and the player's benefit.
My Idea is allowing players to buy a normal stat character from the STORE (e.g in wow you can get a 110 boost for $80.00 ( £62.00) (€69.00). Now this character is not a super noob that everyone wants to make with 100INT from healing afk in huts and dex/str from spamming aura AFK somewhere. Maybe allow players to buy a level 100 with normal calculated stats set by default by the GMS and your options would be either MAGE or MELEE (now it would be up to DAN / FIN to calculate how much STATS they will give to this char boost) but I think that allowing players to buy a level 100 account from the store is a great way forward for the community and you still leave 20 level of grind left for them to do.
And for the Anvil issue I think we can all agree that it's our worst enemy, even having 200 skill doesn't mean much and in fairness it is absolutely not worth the grind if you do not get a substantial increase in %success rate at 200 skill hence it takes so long to acquire - take Matty and Flick for example, Matty tried and succeeded to upgrade a +7 bow to +8 and for that reason he stayed playing but if he had failed he 100% would have quit as Flick was the unfortunate person among many other who QUIT THE GAME because they broke an item or items.
Furthermore what my very good friend DEAMOND is trying to suggest is the IDEA of making the double rates/ drops event a weekday occurrence with perhaps an announcement the week before - BECAUSE as he is trying to convey, the vast majority of our UC comes from players with FULL TIME JOBS / FAMILIES and other RESPONSIBILITIES that may not be able to play weekends because of personal reasons and may find it easier to play after work, after dinner when they want to relax and do some good old hunting. WHICH I find a very reasonable and great suggestion to give. Anyone that think's it's "greedy" is quite wrong in my opinion.
Also +1 on whoever said rested is gained to slowly, I recall them saying in six days he only got about 80+% which I think that's quite low. I am pretty certain nobody wants to play the game when they have ran out of rested XP as the grind becomes unbearably longer. From a personal experience, I go play other games when I've ran out of rested because the game is no longer fun for me and I would rather wait till the next day to level a further 15% then rinse and repeat.
Anyway if you got this far, Thank you for reading and I hope I've given some great insight and Ideas for the betterment and longevity of this server.
Oh and lastly if any new players need help at all in-game or have any questions on where to get certain items or anything, drop me a PM @Nite and I will try to be as helpful as possible ^_^.

Alexis ..... I was stating that a pure bow character cannot solo magmas (even at level 110) unless they have elevated either INT or STR first (to a level that is substantial).

"CUPID""SLAYER""FRINGE"instead of breaking on fail it should add the + to item but do nothing. Why would you need that when you're so stinking rich! Would help the other players catch up just like you were advocating in a previous post :)

"PROWLER""REIGN" There is so much wrong with this post. I just cannot fathom why you can't kill Magma's with bow. It's literally click and wait, mate.. and save 4th for whelps. Thats it. Other than running to them as fast as possible, and luring them into a safe spot.. theres nothing more to it. Bow is above and beyond all other weapon classes at magma.

Bow is far from dominant please leave it alone ... here are the previously (now updated) facts;
Bow is useless against Devils.

Iselix,
You haven't grasped it bud. "Magmas" are only one of the sufferance's - the list details all the negative issues with bow. With regards to the Magma's, I have been at pains to explain it is the "Bow user" who cannot hunt Magma's if they have levelled their character on Bow alone. Doing so creates too little STR and/or INT to be able to attack Magma's even at level 110. The "Bow" simply does not generate enough STR in stats during levelling (it is sacrificed in lieu of DEX). It is necessary, therefore, for a "Bow user" to enhance STR or INT which, in turn, means they are not "pure bow". I am happy to accept that this is a natural consequence of character build (because it is). That said, it is therefore clearly at a disadvantage to other classes. That is the point. Prowler
