Ultimate Weapon Quest Chani

Hi guys,

Now I will admit, I haven't searched every thread in this forum to see if somebody has already suggested this, but my idea is as follows:

I would like to see a quest chain added to the game which is long and hard to complete which ultimately will end with you acquiring an end game weapon. As it currently stands in game, acquiring a very good tagged weapon of end game quality is very much based on luck. My suggestion would be to start the quest chain and work towards upgrading a weapon through various stages, for example:

1st quest (lvl 60?) - obtain x amount of materials (relatively easy materials to gain spread across a variety of mobs). this would forge an untagged weapon of your choice

2nd quest - gather some rare'ish materials which will be used to upgrade the weapon

3rd quest - get an essence from a boss

4th quest - gather a certain amount of pos

... now this is just me brainstorming, but it would be nice if every person had an end game quest chain like this to work on which would take a long time and result in a great weapon. Each stage of the quest would make the weapon a little bit better and eventually end with an intense tagged weapon. I also think each stage of the quest chain could have a level requirement.

What do you guys think? Have any of you got any ideas or suggestions to improve the quest chain idea? I look forward to hearing your responses!

Cheers,

Rambo

Well I did play Aion but only for a little while so I'm not familiar with that quest chain tbh. I only suggested 4 steps of the chain but i think it should have more steps then that ... that's just what i thought of off the top of my head :p

Quite a decent idea, not sure about it ending with an intense though I think those should remain fairly rare, maybe a solid epic? those have the chance to be nearly as good as an intense.

Yeah I agree that intense should be rare weapons. i would suggest that if the quest chain was hard and long enough that they would still remain rare, but no so much based on luck!

Not sure if we can give tagged weapons form an npc. But this would be a small hurdle.

I think the level 60 requirement should be increased to say - level 85/90+ ... even 100?

Level 60 is nowhere near end game. There is still plenty to do (plenty of exp) ingame after this.
Rather than a tagged weapon - maybe one of the abyss weapons with a few perks?

Would be nice if the event was a longer process also. A long chain of events. Not necessarily hunt a mob that will drop something at a rate of 1/50000 but a chain of events of some sort. A one time non dropable/tradable Hero Weapon.
Concept is good though.

I definitely agree that 60 is not end game, my thinking was that if you were to start the chain at 60 and if the chain was made long and hard enough that you would likely complete it at around 90 or so. And yes, I like your idea about making it a hero weapon also.

Yea nice idea Rambo. DSoma could really use something like this as decent end-game weapons end up to be your pride and joy.

One stage of the quest chain could also require some parts for the upgrade to be crafted which require high skill and rare mats maybe, and another stage could require you "christen" your weapon by acquiring some PoS with it.

A nice little (and completely aesthetic) touch would be if you could name your weapon at the start of the quest too, or if it started with a basic name like "The Crippler", which changed slightly with each upgrade to end up as something elaborate like "Satan's Blood-Soaked Crippler of Hellfire"
