I'm not sure if it happens with other auras, but if 2nd spear fails to cast for whatever reason the cooldown is still triggered. In my experience this is either in a duel when it is used slightly before it starts, or when the target is at range 2 but in one of the "blind spots" that isn't in a straight line.

You might think its only a short cooldown so its no big deal, but when you're chasing a moving target, it can often lead to multiple consecutive failed casts and getting a hit off on a runner is tricky enough as melee so getting that hit off is critical.

Is this a bug or do I just need to stop being so shit at PvP? ;)

its a bug imo, it happens a lot when your range 2 diagonally, have this a lot on my spear when tryin to use archer as tank
Have to make sure im left/right/up/down or range 1 diagonal

This applies to all auras where it attempts to cast but fails.

3rd+5th knuckler auras fail to slightly different reason wherein the target dodges it.

3rd+5th axe can fail if the target appears to be next to you but isn't. If you then get into range, it won't cast as it'll be on cooldown from the 'fail'. (Actually, all auras can fail due to this).

2nd spear fails when casting diagonally.
