Feedback thread #3 - Both worlds - Community / Forum Mods / Toxicity

Author Content Date
Lots of you mentioned about toxicity, forum moderation and community

I think now that some of the rivalry has dissipated, so has the toxicity. That said, we DO need competition. Not just heroes but villains, and that when it rears its head, it remains healthy.

So now things are quieter, its the best time for someone to stake your claim to that throne, drive up the offensive and empower you and your friends (like us 6 and a half inchers :p) to take the battle to your enemies.

Issue
- Playerbase feels that things 'at times' have just gotten out of hand, and worse when it spills out onto world shout (world shout filter button works tho now)
- GM's don't have the resource to monitor the game 24/7 or manage 'incidents'
- GM's have limited resource to promote community competitions(?)
- This game is largely a solo experience with just tacked on teamplay elements. Drops as a whole could be a bit more prevalent to off set some of that need to be a bit 'selfish'. (Side issue, will raise as a seperate point)

Solution

From the comments and my own thoughts, I just think its come down to frustration, the anvil makes a lot of people rage log, if not quit the game, the game is a relentless grind (subject to change ;o). There just hasn't been regular and active in game moderation more than anything. (That isn't a criticism, it isn't a job).

A two or three step process would really gee things up but would depend on iSylvers / Finitos openness to it.

- Community competitions (monthly) set by the GM's, run by volunteers. Unpaid, no perks (well maybe some rested) other than a world shout scroll.
- Monthly Brawls, RVR and PVP with community prizes, part GM funded.
- Ability to do 'green' (for community) posts / stickies
- Community Advisors are special char with huge HP with a green name, dedicated guild with ability to 'gag' people for 30 minutes. They use their huge HP bars to lead their race into RvR at times for battles etc but other than this, dont really fight. They can talk cross world but cannot warp to players but may freely warp map to map. They can turn the rain on / off too.
- Community advisors are considered 'official' enough to gather a video or screen shots of a player 'harassing' another etc. if they choose too and in a hidden forum section can show GM's evidence and what was seen to put incremental, leading to permanent punishments down.

SpoilerShow

Oh and if I was ever asked to do it, I wouldn't accept it by myself. Chojine, Lyon, MickyC and Ravensoul would make great advisors.

Issue - Donation item delivery

Several people commented that they have waited for item delivery and by time its received, the need for it has changed to something else (still useful).

Solution -

Deposit a stash of rested pots into the Advisors guild (thats auditable) stash and let them distribute the pots on your behalf, in place of doing some kind of automation. If multiple players were advisors, we may be able to do this same day as a donation (?). Obviously automation would be better all around.

Issue - Boss spawns

A player made a good point that it would be great if it didnt depend on a GM being online to spawn a load of bosses. Its too much of a give away to see iSylver online and then people naturally get ready to pounce.

Solution - Boss spawns

It would be a lot more enjoyable if this could be somewhat automated to happen by itself. Maybe it always happens at 8pm or GMT but on a random day of the week? Would be a nice surprise for someone. Like wise a random spawn at one random day in the week but at 6am to suit other time zones.

#foxforadvisor

I agree with everything here needing to happen. The boss spawns is maybe not so urgent and something long term to look at for the advisors to do.

What I think would help is an event calendar on the website to show server events like Halloween, Xmas, double events. Isylver could also schedule when he will be on for a GM event at least a few days before and maybe hype on the Facebook and forum with a bit of a theme to each event. Eg: Merc boss invasion, gorshack, pandi boss invasion

Can we get a healthier looking donation store? i dunno what but i think it might add more interest to people helping fund the changes they'd like to see in game.

Up to lvl 100 - the old rested pots can make sense. at 110ish I have considered buying rested pots to boost leveling but it has gotten very expensive and I think (at least from lvl 110) we do need exp pot that are time based.
