Hey guys, honest question.
If you level a mage to 200 Intelligence, the remaining XP you have to play with will not allow the gaining or Dex and Str to really add any survivability to your character versus melee characters. The increase in MA between 200 and new Int cap is moot due to the spell damage caps and most chars having approx 100 - 120 Intelligence, meaning with weaken you will 2 hit DB most chars either way. So my question is, after achieving 200 Intelligence, is your character essentially finished as far as efficiency goes, as nothing I can see will add killing power or survivability, essentially meaning any further time investment into pure levelling is wasted effort. Thoughts?

"DIOS"Pick up a axe and try take less damage as possible I can see the desire to do so, but you'd still end up 30 - 40 str below melee chars at a minimum which would likely mean you'd be 3 or 4 hit, and with auras and speed increased weapons it would be a few hundred hours for what would likely translate to 2 seconds of extra time alive. :P Thanks for the reply dude =]

Imo no, mage is a dead and pointless class on hsoma, melee always have more.dex, meaning a far better hit rate, throw in the op attack gear you can get now and the silly speed of bows the best a mage can hope for is to get the odd pre cast hit off in mass pvp (the proof really is in how low people are willing to leave their int, the fact you have high level chars running round with 60-100 int tells you they don't fear any mage due to knowing they won't get a cast in)

I already have +4 / +5 warps and valk studs, +5 int hero pads, hero 2 top and epic azure, only really new staff, hero 2 helm and maybe a nice proc ring to get and the char is done.

You're a mage Sir, so your character isn't done until you hit the int cap. Willow was only four feet tall and a crap mage to boot yet he still won the day and went home to his hot wife. There's hope yet.

"CHOJINE""DIOS"Pick up a axe and try take less damage as possible Think your completely wrong, mage is so good at the moment and has a few different build options, Dex mage with eva+ dex access 160+ dex 200int? Not many melle builds could hit you often and you could free cast alot getting lots of hits off. 200+str 220+ int build and run DB proc gear. Insanely easy to one shot most builds ingame (most have 120int maximum) you'd most likely need a melle to support you with weaken casting, but with the ability to precast and equal gear to what others have (+5 sets) you could have 59% proc chance to one shot melle builds while being able to take a good few hits (definetly alot easier to outpot them and they'd have zero chance of outpotting that one shot proc)

"WEEEEEEEEEP""CHOJINE""DIOS"Pick up a axe and try take less damage as possible I admit Str could be an option to be tested, doubt 105 - 120 would gain dex from 100 - 160 though :O! People seem to be saying 2 - 2.5 dex a level.

"CHOJINE""WEEEEEEEEEP""CHOJINE""DIOS"Pick up a axe and try take less damage as possible It's possible for 150 Dex 200 int on a non perfect stat, some wasted exp/some str done also and non healing char, so guessing if done correctly could easily get 160 dex/200int. Dex seems to be king among melle chars also so the 200+ str /220+ int build is very nice, many who allocate stats towards fighting other melle will have around 220 str maximum, Could even go 220+ str 200+ int mage for extra defence, and run 2 pieces MA gear along with DB set to make up for the int and still able to one shot on the DB procs.

"RAMYREZ""CHOJINE""WEEEEEEEEEP""CHOJINE""DIOS"Pick up a axe and try take less damage as possible Yup some good Dex to be had in the last 10-15 levels, alot of mages ingame seem to be first gen/non-perfect stats/non healing where as the super stat super chars seem to all be melle, (isylver says +50 stat chars difference drops off alot but personally don't see it) Would like to see what a perfect build (+50 stats/healing) mage builds look like. For melle the difference is quite big, Chronos will cap roughly 160 dex/212 ish str/120int. Not perfect but still decently hunted no healing. Perfect new gen chars will cap around, 178-180 Dex/212+ str/100 int 20 int isn't really noticeable-mages will still one shot you 18+ dex is a massive advantage

We are pretty redundant as a class, agreed caps of spells has made it kinda pointless to gain much after you cap db damage.
But I don’t really do much so I’ll just cap int and axe what ever I have left. When it comes to pking I just stand still and Let them kill me twice as I can’t cast back as a mage so I may aswell take the 30 mins free hunting. In a store guild by myself so not bothered about gvw performance either, long run is I’m just aiming to make myself hurt bosses ( except 80% of them as Mages don’t damage them) and make it so I destroy mags quickly also. But what I’m trying to say is your right mages are pretty useless.

You'll never really cap DB damage against bosses or players, so caps aren't an issue, maybe you'll cap DB damage on a 10MD dummy that's about it. If you do ever manage to cap damage on very low int players then swap some MA pieces out for the very good procs that are ingame now. Crazy how you can say mages are useless, this new patch has made them so much stronger than melle for PvP, as for unable to cast get some Dex /eva/Dex access and you can cast fine vs 90% of melle. Mages just seem to want it all, you can't have a very high chance to one shot people + free casting + take no damage. Pick one of those as your build choice and your much stronger in Pvp than melle classes. Agreed about bosses tho it seems like mages don't deal enough damage to these but that's easily fixed
