Problem playing on sony vaio laptop?

Author Content Date
Hi all. I have a Sony Vaio VPCX11 laptop i am using as a spare. Every time i go to play Soma it crashes and comes up with the Windows error message 'Myth of Soma Client has stopped working'

I tried to reinstall the game but that still didn't help. Was wondering if you guys had any advice to get the game working?

Maybe something on the laptop is forcing it to shut down? Could it be anything to do with my screen settings or any other programs running at the same time?

Thanks in advance

Right click your screen, check your screen resoultion, open up the myth of soma folder, then scroll down until you find this " SomadevLaucher" but its like in a notepad form, edit your screen resoul and save it try that. gl

I had something like this and it was due to either a dll file missing or the launcher was the old one have you tried wiping all that off and starting from scratch using the client on the forums?

I deleted the old installation and reinstalled the client from the website and sadly no luck. Checked all the dll files and they are fine. Would it have anything to do with the fact its a netbook type laptop?

Thanks for all the input!

I play on a netbook, at first i had what you did.. unfortunately the only solution for me was a complete os refurbish.... not sure if it does anything but try and find the process and set to high priority.

Are you talking about the SomaDevLauncher.exe? When i try to set the priority as high in Task Manager. I get a error message saying 'The operation could not be completed. Access is denied'

Should i just throw it out of the window and stick to my desktop ;)?

Thanks

i had this a while back on my notebook laptop and after faffing about I found the resolution was the problem, after tweaking different ones it finaly didn't crash

think the expanded resolution once it hits ingame causes it to crash.

have you tried fullscreen mode?
