Yeah the anvil is fierce, ive gone through way too many keens for what i have to show for it but i dont think the anvil needs changing its the frequency of the items that needs to change so we get more attempts and not have these dead zones where we need realistic base items to upgrade in the first place.
As for the transparency of the rates it would be nice to know (but wont change anything) as i def believe certain items have different rates 100% Its funny how you can +5 any wep t3 or below with relative ease even going 1 2 3 4 5 in a line yet as soon as you put a gorshak wep what do you know auto fail and same for troll rings always blowing up at +1 or +2 Its not fun having to farm sd's to fund the rings then the mares and then the rubies then have 2-3 keens in a row fail with 200 pot skill then have the anvil carry on. It is supposed to be a private server after all meaning things should be achievable within a fair time frame

Take a week break, you'll come back with enthusiasm, sounds like you've just burnt yourself out and made soma a chore rather than just playing it for what it is |

+1 To needing fixing.
Fails should revert the weapon back to +0 Possibly reduce max dura with each fail, making the weapon less viable. Possible produce a "break protection" upgrade item, people would use on only the best of weps, going +6 and over etc. Loosing a weapon that could of taken weeks to farm, and loosing upgrades that took just as long, all in one is a bit much sometimes.

Trick to it is, once you get an item say +3 and its taken time to get it, dont get greedy, appreciate it and use it +3 and then work on making another one to go higher.. then when that one fails you ALWAYS have that nice +3 to go bk to which will eventually be a +4 and then +5 etc...
Its the lack of patience with a mix of want/greed to why so many people end up ripping all items Take your time and plan it out

"DEVILSEYES"Take your time and plan it out You can't plan RNG, some make +8's by just banging everything in and it works. Planning works but you'd be planning and grinding for literally years and still be barely better off from when you started purely because whatever secondary item you've tried to work on fails to make it past +3.

You can't plan RNG but you can effectively balance your risk/reward.
I see so many people upgrading items that they can't level efficiently without any back ups or just yolo and then quit, if its so good it will make you quit then dont up it anymore.. Generally i see alot of 'solo' players wanting all the good stuff, if you play with a solo mindset then expect to have alot less and never really make an impact This game is guild/group based and its alot down to how ppl network, help others, receive help, get better trade opportunities etc Look at all the groups in this game that work effectively together, they have many items upgraded and many high ups too +5/+8 its the way soma works You cannot penalise them for thinking outside the box and then suddenly change upg system etc as it will buffer the solo players or smaller groups but absolutely make the bigger groups even more ridiculous lol and we'll just be in a worse orf situation If anyone is scared of the anvil aswell, they can just farm more raw mats and pay higher than the odds to avoid the risk of anvil completely

The myth of the anvil.....
Some swear by the fail method. Some swear by the backup method. Some swear by going all in at once. Whichever way you flip it, it's a placebo effect. The flip of a coin is all the anvil is, a crafters skill has no bearing on the success/fail. You can't plan anything because there is no consistency or data to go by. The people that have been lucky will always say "anvil is fine" and the players that haven't been lucky will always say "anvil needs tweaking" guess that's RNG to a T.

"DEVILSEYES" Some people still after so many years don't understand this. Playing this game as a solo player is a pain in the neck then they wonder why they don't get to the same level as players that have a backing.

Raven that’s not even true about people who are lucky saying it’s fine and the people who aren’t saying it needs tweaking, for most of the time I’ve played this game the anvil has ripped my heart out and stomped on it - not once did I come to the forum crying ‘make it easier’, there’s been some times now where I’ve had periods of luck, the trick is the same trick you need to generate your own luck in any situation - keep at it.
Yea I’m sure some people are totally biased to their own wants/needs with what they suggest/what opinion they put out into these sort of debates, but some of us just want things to be fair and for the game to remain in a healthy state, even if that isn’t completely in their own favour.
