"DR_EVIL"People are going to have different points of view on that kinda thing Dea, you’ll never get everyone to agree. What do you think of the idea of a Barr only drops map then, or even 50% drop rate if people (with a brain unlike XP) think barr only is too harsh? Surely that would solve most of the issues you’ve iust described? I agree everyone will have their own perspective, In terms of barr only drops maps its a viable option. I can see why players would feel that they would be 'penalized' for not getting drops or as many, but it would really depend on the individual what do they value more, hunting in peace or being pked and getting drops? I also like the idea of being able to "Turn PK" off, So if you are someone (no names mentioned) who only plays the game for PVE or doesn't have much time on their hands has the ability to hunt in peace - However this would need to be thought about very carefully and if considered would need to be a cooldown, for example once it has been set you cannot pk or hit a grey player for a substantial amount of time i.e 1 week or even longer. However adding the ability to turn PK off, could in turn cause more players not to bother logging in because they can't pk people.

I honestly think players being able to disable PK for a week would hit the UC hard.
I’m not sure what PVP has been like recently, if there’s been much of it or whatever but I’m guessing not a crazy amount, to go do a PK run and everyone you try to attack has essentially got immunity while you’re running around would be pretty frustrating/boring for the PKer, if those people who didn’t wanna be PK’d were on a different map however I don’t think it’d be so bad, you have your PVP map and PVE map, you know what you’re getting with either then.

"DEAMOND""DR_EVIL"Yea I’ll never take immunity, but I can’t say people can stop me hunting because of that - it’d be my choice not to take immunity and carry on hunting. It's not about the KD though its purely a point of pride for some to not bend over and take the death.

Part of the problem with the game is exactly this, People are obsessed with their K/D and don't want to let rivals kill them so they can gloat. (Which i can't blame them for but...)

Keep things simple for GM.
All should be given an option if they want to PK or not. GM will give you all this one opportunity to opt in or out once taken it can’t be reversed. This way no more complaints. |

Make it a option once a week, think it could be good

I don't see how it would affect UC if you could disable pking for a week at a time (especially if you throw in a way to compensate people who keep PK mode on)
Just add a bonus of some sort for not having PK turned off, I think a lot of pkers that run round maps all day for hours at a time looking for targets, or those that do it in massive groups need to get a grip really (as things stand). Part of the reason it's done atm is to control the opposition, but it's a pretty toxic affair and escalates verbal garbage. Maybe a new system (to replace or run alongside k/d) whereby you multiply the time (in days) a player has PK mode enabled by the number of kills said player gets on chars within x level range...and offer unique rewards for it or a league of some sort. Also make it so it's a WEEK of either having it on or off, you can't randomly turn it off at free will. This would encourage people to stay logged in and to persist with pking on both the giving and receiving end. Also caters to the PVE crowd.

Well it would most likely effect UC in the way that PKers would log a lot less/leave, like they did when immunity was brought in, its pretty similar except expanding on immunity.

I don't think it would help user count (well wouldn't bring myself back) but would let the ppl lvl who want / need to.
N yea I would say x2 drop/exp if you keep it on (that way tbh think most lvlers would still leave on... maybe |

And what about those that I keep bringing up, who leave for the opposite reason? I think the pkers are mostly the type to stick around as long as there is PVP still going... There are also other reasons why people left around that time, so can't put it down to that, and numbers have been good at times since then to (relatively speaking).

As someone who has died a lot to lvl 120's, I do not think being able to opt out of pvp is a good idea at all. PVP has always been a part of Soma. I do think it needs tweaking maybe upped to an hour immunity, it would be fairer to have a 10 lvl difference as well. With the usercount as a pker you would never find anyone to pvp with as everyone that is lvling would have it turned off.

As I was saying to Dea you’ll never please everyone, but as Sabrewolf said Soma has always been a PVP game - I see a lot of issues with being able to opt out of PK also, everyone’s entitled to their opinion but I think it’d do a lot more bad than good, you’d probably lose 10 active PVP focused players and gain 5 PVE players.
