From what I remember back in esoma, all upgrade items require a skill associated to it for you to use at the anvil. i.e. rdt,dt,tow etc were set at 100 skill to allow all players the chance to do simple upgrades, true or not or just another to add to the mythofcrafting.
On here there set at the 150 crafter skill, but as we have seen from that list and from my own experience a crafters skill as absolutely nothing to do with the success or fail rate when you click that produce button. If you actually believe that list of players and the attempts/success/fail means anything then ask Isylver or Finito to give 100 stingers and 100 toes to any of the 70%+ players on that list and technically you should have back 70 stingers at least at +1 but we all know rng doesn't work like that because you could do that test with every player with so called 70% and everyone will have a different result after 100 attempts.

You are right Raven but over 100 tries you should theoretically see a low variance around the number 70 - if all the players came back and it was 70+/-5% i’d probably accept the rates. If it were more variable i’d agree 70% is probably bogus but it sounds like you’re saying from your experience you’d predict wild differences like say a significant portion of people coming back with 30 +1 stingers and others 90 +1 stingers. I’m not disagreeing that this may be the case, I don’t have enough experience crafting esp compared to you i’m only commenting on the limitations of the data set I managed to catch.
I followed the link Leo but i’m just getting the generic discord page? I think I’m missing the big data sets since all I found whilst scrolling were a few screenies where most people had only done very few attempts. Any chance somebody can just post the pic of the chart with the 12k attempts etc directly in the thread?

Maverick posted that list in the merc section on forums under thread test.
Your right if 20 or so players were given the same 100 to test, you would expect around 70 give or take 5 or say difference either way and accept it at around the 70% mark, but to get a true account you would need to do the same test with say 20 crafters at 100 skill, 150 skill, 200 skill to get a reasonable account. The trouble is with the anvil each attempt or each press of that produce button is a new attempt it doesn't recall your previous attempts and say oh you failed last 2 times so next try I'll give you a success. You can take 10 rdt and have 8 in a row, you could take 10 rdt and fail 8 times in a row, the only thing predictable about the anvil and upgrading system is its unpredictable. All this fail 2, 3, 4 times in a row then try your real attempt is a placebo effect, if it works you think you have done it right but if it fails you question if you should have waited for 3 fails or maybe 4 fails in a row.

You see I never bother with fails personally for the very reason you are describing - a coin doesn’t remember whether it was heads or tails the last time you flipped it. Sure you can get 5 heads in a row sometimes but as you flip it more and more you will see the ratio trend closer and closer toward 50:50. If you don’t you have to conclude that it is an unfair coin.
I’ll take a gander at the merc section and see what it is saying. Only reason i’m so invested in this topic is that I don’t want to pointlessly get beyond 130 craft (I think that is 2 SR/day?). I’m currently so close @ 124 but fuck 150 if it makes no difference to ups. The situation is even worse on d soma where you don’t even get SR for your troubles so why go above the min at all if it truly makes no difference to success? Presumably if Fin can fix the anvil to better reward high level crafters he can also definitively confirm what the current state of affairs is by looking at the coding of the anvil portion of the game? Edit: Just looked at the numbers under merc, definitely wasn't seeing those on the dissy so thanks for that. The only problem I have now is that everybody I know the skill of personally on that list has 150+ crafting skill and the others all at least 'look like' the kind of people who would also have 150 min and they're all at 70% which is what I already thought i.e 100 grants 60% and 150 grants 70%. Can anybody confirm definitively that anybody on the list has under 150 crafting skill?

MAVERICK |
.I have saved most of those data sheets from fin. All lists are from december 2017. As soon as I figure out how to upload a picture I'll post them all.
Also spoke with fin last night. He is going to do one in a crafters skill order. Although it wont show at what point they hot there skill. As raven and most other have got their 200 skill after december 2017. Under ravens name. If he had 1000 attempts, that could have been with 100 skill and 150 skill and 200 skill. For some reason I cant figure out how to post a picture here ( without it being a link) but when I do I'll put the stats up from +5 weps and above, +8s, intense stinger success rate etc. Got quite a few

"LUPISCUS"Crafting is one of the best aspects of Soma, but it's just too hard for the casual player. I've got to 146 weapon 70arm 70acc on 1 char and 110 cook 104 pot on another char crafting part time when the double/triple crafting rates are up. My crafter is on another account so I start crafting alt tab and hit some mobs for 5 mins then do another run. Really hasn't inconvenienced me at all, I'll get 150 weap on the next event and get pot/cook to 132 then will probably leave crafting there. Im a pretty casual player

Make it 2x quicker, 3x the mats !! polds and mat sellers in every town, and make it worthwhile..upping success ..something to aim for

I hit 200 December 2018, Tyrone aka Flick got his just after new year 2019 and it didn't take either of us long to realise skill means nothing towards your success rate at the anvil.
I'd be surprised if I have done more than 400 upgrades tbh, but I know I had worse success when I was 150+ than when I was around 100-130, and then it seemed when I hit 200 I was back to around same success rate when I was between 100-130.

Only a trial of 1 then really need to see a similar list of 100 skill crafters but since Icaros has confirmed he is 100 skill and is trending toward 70%, prob would be on 69-70 as you increased his attempts, it seems to be confirming what Raven has been saying that anything over 100 skill min is pointless for ups.

Deamond and lupi have similar attemps.
Lupis all made with 200 skill. Deamonds some made with 100 and most with 150 skill. And deamond has had 1.8% better success. So yeah skill means nothing really I guess /mav |

Lol absolutely not Mav, just in this case.
A better chance is a better chance, not a guarantee of any sort. |
