I would deal with a terrible situation by trying to lighten it with humour most likely as I have done when I've dealt with losses in my own life. It sounds all well and good on paper in terms of virtue signaling to say things like ‘a joke should never be made at the expense of somebody else’s suffering’ but if you think for more than a minute on it basically ALL jokes, apart from perhaps some of the most infantile children’s jokes, are at somebody’s expense. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend, it is a terrible thing, but it doesn’t give you the right to demand he deletes his post. You’ve told him you don’t appreciate the joke, which is fair enough, but people calling for his ban etc are just being absurd imo.
