How I Personally see Soma Today.

Author Content Date
Maybe Dark Legacy will come back? Who knows? But I think that they are now needed once more. Vikings were formed with the good intentions of fighting back against what was (love em or hate em) the most successful and dominant guild in Soma history.

When DL left to play other games, sadly, Vikings seem to have just stepped into their “evil” role and have themselves now become the very thing that they were formed to fight against……
I think that, with the current low user count, guilds are too big and should maybe be reduced to say 10 members.

Pking is a fundamental part of playing Soma and I am sure many will remember the fun and excitement in Esoma of Basil being on the prowl!

The introduction of the K~D scoring system, while initially greeted as a great idea, has spawned some real monsters now and “K~D Stuffing” has become a real downer to the whole game with Pking by higher levels of much lower levels and using ridiculously uber equipment from their capped toons to reinforce this is driving players away from the game – maybe that is the intention? I don't think many people even bother to look at K~Ds any more as they have become meaningless and totally unrepresentative of a players’ fighting abilities – maybe K~D should be dispensed with? Or nothing is added to your K~D for killing players of a lower level?

An unprecedented amount of new stuff and a lot of changes have happened in more recent times - to the benefit of everyone who plays Soma and I applaud the GMs for making this all happen. Sadly, people still feel the need to cheat and to bot to play a nostalgic and niche game and aspire to be a big fish in a very small pond. Yes, I know crafting is tedious to the nth degree and maybe the GMs need to have a think about this. But to actually want bots and cheats to play the game in pvp and the like is just sad…….

What has happened to the economy? Is everyone sitting on trading and hoarding their stuff awaiting the anvil decision?

There are many great ideas currently in the melting pot for the on-going future of Soma, but it just feels to me at the moment that some of the players are doing their best to kill off the game rather than supporting it……..

Firstly. Leadership is a lonely place but to lead properly, it involves little to no favors (in relevence to 1) ;p).

1) Everyone caught cheating - should be perma banned. The end. No messaging Dan, or trying to be unbanned 3 years later. You pay the price and have to start over (if your allowed too). People having 2nd or 3rd chances just makes it worthwhile 'doing it'. Needs a hard and fast rule. No getting the community involved or public posts. And no keeping items. You want to discourage people don't you?

2) You probably should make an announcement about the anvil. People just don't know what they should be doing right now with their items and naturally are going to hold onto them.

3) There's a mentality that went from certain members of the community (and also key people of VK) that being pked should be seen as motivation to "try harder" but that's a pretty moronic attitude to have when most of the pking is repetitively on the same people whom cannot fight back. Very costly to the community. So moronic in fact, seems either a lie or just an attempt to justify repetitive pking, I mean bullying people around. Ask around, its what they think. Why are super capped chars now making even more gear and making a "twink" that sits in the lower band. Massively detrimental to the population. Comes back down to what Fox said weeks ago. The Moral system was what kept pking in check and making things like holy waters super rare...Allows people to still be dropped but not so repetitively and comes at a cost to the pker. (Remove gypsy etc). GM's and VT group need to realise that PK is also used as the "end game" competitiveness outside of scheduled events. "Misdirected" maybe?

Some longer term capped players have forgotten what it was like as a first char and so have a very throw away attitude to it all.

4) Carry on giving Devil soma 'stuff'. It feels really alive these days but I hope this is just the start - we have monsters that drop only 4-5 items to name one problem (Look at this...! https://myth-of-soma.com/Armory/Monster.asp?id=1057 )of hundreds :P . Can you believe that? Need more filler and mid gear stuff. Maybe "pieces of accessory" since we seem to need loads more variation of that.

5) Tagging bosses in the top 10 damage or something would be a great change and really stir up boss attendance imo.

6) Temeroso talked about Facebook updates and whilst it was good enough for 1000+ people to like the page - seen too many occasions of peoples personal information splurged in world shout (and another reason why World shout should have a cut off of 30 seconds between reusing). This is probably one community I wouldn't want to share my personal on and that's because thats partly due to a lack of moderation in the game/forums.

Tbh the whole pk thing like we have said before just reduce it so you can only attack 10 lvls. We have pk fights atm where 2
/3 ppl will only attack the mage or lowest level,no skill and very boring tbh.
Changing the anvil will help a little but people will still hoarde and just sell/trade to their own guild and peoples. Our guild itself on dsoma will ask our members to trade inhouse to get ourselves stronger as do others.
The pk atm should stay on. Its part of the game. Immunity is an hour long and it does drive us to work harder get more organised.

Conti should be more rewarding especially for humans.
Maybe a new boss or multi boss spawn once you have achieved 500 minton jewel drops. Atm humans aint even turning up.
Make RvR more rewarding. Maybe penalty % introduced and or cash dropping when killed by the other race along with an insta warp. As i know people will be dead against items dropping.

Leader board for RvR events like conti and Ss
Best or top 3 k/d get 3 bersek pots/3 attack pots.

Maybe even introduce a new event.
"Last man standing" on for 10 minutes last person alive wins 1000 pos/ large wep/arm/upgrade cache. Once a week like CTF.

Gms work recently has been great. Few more activities/rewards for gvw rvr events along with a date for an upcoming lvl raise will really lift spirits and get people playing again.

That would be cool.

Think we defo need a league system to encourage guild wars as well (not the village ). Would be nice if guild village perks could be better as well. If you added in exclusive NPC shop items that were untradable (so can't be used outside of the guild), would be cool. Maybe all guild members can use trace once per 4 hours and board members can use "as is"

Nothing against you Nite. But in my opinion this should never happen.

I think reducing the PK from 20 to 10 levels is a big mistake. I know few people have being asking for this but can we PLEASE leave PK as it is. We have the 1 hour immunity, so take the 2 kills and hunt in peace.

VK for you,

imo if a 120 pks a 110 it shouldnt count towards K/D you have to be at least withen 2 levels of 120

Making k/d only count if you're the same level or 2-3 higher would be a good start tbh or just remove it, let's be honest we've seen the videos of vk trying to 1v1 2v2 etc. We all know who's better in even numbers ;]

Personally I think removing K/D solves so many problems at the moment, sheer amount of complaints to the GM's included. A lot more players will just take the 2 death immunity, this ongoing argument and moaning on the forum is solved.

If anyone cares that much, just keep your own count on you chars comment section.

I don't see any negatives to it going and if you have any.. I'd like to hear it, along with your reasons.
