Haven't played for years, info about changes?

Author Content Date
Hi all,

Returning after many years away! I'm not after a levelling guide but i am wondering if there's a guide for all the updates and changes the game has seen over the years?

I heard theres things like being able to turn levelling off so you can farm items and stuff like that now!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can't tell you most the changes but "/freemode" so you can hunt lower level mobs. Don't think it applies to Dsoma (could be wrong though).

You can also hunt anything you want which has higher STR than you until 88str, which is quick.

Anvil was also changed last night, nothing breaks upto +2.

So you dont HAVE to hunt kobs>raps>trolls etc now? Just anything with higher str?

For hsoma yeah /freemode is a godsend you can farm, skill weapons and do your quests in /freemode without gaining stats and wasting experience.

Dsoma has no need to use /freemode since you want experience to level up and allocate your stats.

Over the last year this Soma has had plenty of tweaks, fixes etc. Levelling rates, drop rates, crafting rates have all been increased and lots of new quests and other items added to the game.

The anvil’s for both dsoma and hsoma have been changed so that you now have 100% success at going +1 and +2 and you don’t need any crafting skill to perform these upgrades at the new anvil’s.

Probably should do a seperate list for this and add too it as people remember.

1) Joining any public event (Sacred Stone, War of the Worlds, Guild Village War etc) awards you rested gains at x4 whilst you attend.
2) Rested Experience speeds up your levelling (blue bar).
3) Pot crafting has a table item allowing you to craft in the field
4) Attack auras (1st's) for all weapons had their attacks buffed
5) There around 4-5 quests per race that reward rested potions, they are worth doing
6) Tags of items replaced -A and -O and -P to create tiered weapons / Armors / Accessories of Hardened, Rare, Epic, Intense and Legendary.
7) Skill lock feature for when you hit weapon skill cap of 370, allowing you to choose which skill to lose.
8) You can gain immunity from being player killed if you are killed twice in quick succession and do not fight back ,for an hour. If you attack you immediately lose it tho and lose it for a good amount of time.
9) If you die whilst disconnected or do not click revive and have resurrection scrolls in your inventory, it will try and revive you, using up a scroll. Reviving without a scroll earns you a 2.5% penalty experience where you gain no stats and have to "work it off" like traditional experience. This stacks 4 times up to 10% penalty at which point it will warp you to respective town.
10) You're free to any monster upto 84 STR / 84 INT, providing you are below their Strength/Intelligence (check Armory as you hunt) and still gain maximum stat bonus's. After that you're expected to follow what is the current "traditional levelling path".
11) Shops in Human Soma now sell untag base armors / weapons upto Dark / Bloodbow (I think?).
12) Upgrading any items now is guaranteed to success upto +2. Anything else is at risk.
13) Lots of help files in /help in game you can use.
14) SomaDevlauncher.ini is a customisable config file for Soma thats worth looking at for resolution options, limiting FPS so it doesnt waste your CPU usage. etc.
15) Devil Soma and Human Soma can now PM each other rather than rely on world shout or through 3rd party app.

Lots of other things that could be added here.

Nothing explicitly explaining 14) I'm afraid but would recommend capping your FPS down to maybe 30-40 to save your CPU from needlessly churning cycles and raising fan temp.

The resolution I've chosen is great for smallish laptops or for doing other things at same time. But for bigger screen resolutions of 1920x1080 probably go a bit higher, still letting you use YouTube etc.

Always_draw=1 seems particularly important if you want to use a 2nd Soma client.

This is what I use under [launcher]

[launcher]
serverVersionFile=server.ver
patchURL=http://myth-of-soma.com/launcher/
serverIP=51.79.98.95
window=1
resumeDownload=1
resolution_width=800
resolution_height=600
always_draw=1
game_resolution_width=800
game_resolution_height=600
resolution_up_scale=1
fps_cap=1
fps_cap_limit=30
Chat_font_size=16

Everything below under [chatcolors] really is about RGB colors for certain text status's. Pick a color with a website like this - https://rgbcolorcode.com/color/19FF66 and get the RGB values and insert them into the chat text type you want to change and relog. iIn that example you would use 25,255,102.

Though I think if you read /help it allows you to test on the fly... (with you editing the config whilst logged in).

The last section is what dura you want the game to 'warn you' off. Theres a number of reasons why you may or may not want to change it.

Be interesting to see people's configurations as theres probably some pretty wild ones possible.

Hope thats helpful :)

Brilliant! Exactly what i needed!

So, although it's any mob as long as they're higher stats, is there a best mob route for this? Maybe best drops, quicker to kill, etc?
