Hsoma:Mages, Stone, 4th Staff.

So, an idea has been knocking around discord;
Allowing HSoma mages to have 4th staff, at the cost of being able to have 5th axe (stone).
So you would CHOOSE between the two.
Obviously to make it possible some alterations would have to be made to skill requirements or possibly a line of code stating you have one or the other. Technicalities aside, have your say, a simple +1 or - 1 and your thoughts.

So...As it stands just now a Mage can have 220+ str and 230 Int along with 5th axe..

So if a mage then has the ability to free cast against a melle char what chance has he got of interrupting, defending or killing that mage?

I struggle to kill any mage with my bow or sword 1 v 1 as I simply cant do 1200+ damage in 1 hit.

So it a BIG -1 from me until there is a clear gap between str and Int builds.

Cheers

u played a mage?

keep 4th staff on dsoma

this is why skill cap should of been kept at 370, 5th being 200skill you would need to pick what one you want

I’d defo say 5thed with a proc mage is worse. A mage can’t stand there with a swordie going toe to toe at all

Allot of conflicting opinions here, coming from someone who thinks mages are OP on a couple of levels, suggesting this seems mad, but it would be nice for HSoma mages to get 4th staff, and nice to see some variety in the way mages are played. With the new feather mechanic, this could be another gameplay changer. Despite it probably biting me in the ass during pk, I'm for it. +1.

i don't think the idea proposed would change anything because mages can already free cast due to 5th axe (if it came down to a 1v1 between mage vs melee , all the mage has to do is stone, cast, wait for the cooldown to expire and repeat).

i don't think stone should really exist on soma tbh, it should be replaced with the invincibility aura from CTF lol

A mage losing stone genuinely brings in new game play and 100% allows range 1 melee weps to be viable as there isn't the risk of being 5th'd

And before people say it wouldn't happen, there is reason I wouldnt go 1v1 with afro today, him in full omni I do significantly less damage while he retains the ability to 2hit+aura me

And the main reason especially in dsoma for running is avoiding 5th axe by everyone
