Make PK Great Again!

Get rid of this K/D counter but keep the player feed, encourage people to take screenies/videos of PvP battles, make people who go grey stay grey for longer (or make it last longer unless they’re killed by opponent in which case start the count down to go flashing and ungrey).

Is there a way to give people penalty if they log off while still grey / engaged in PvP? Too many K/D farmers who log in for quick kills on lower levels and then log off onto different characters in order to avoid an even fight.

Just want PvP to be better ingame tbh.

Would be nice to add a pk off mode for those of us who clearly have no intention of PK - a simple cool down of 24 hours, or even a week if you engage in PvP would suffice.

I think honestly if you took the feed off, pk would be like playing poker for fake money. No skill stupid plays no fun.

Hence why I say keep the player feed just get rid of this ridiculous K/D count because it doesn’t remotely give a true reflection of anyone’s PvP skills. The true examples of good PvP can be found in the various videos on YouTube - great stones, good procs, zombie combos, times auras and more. I’d really like to see more PvP videos going out there and more streaming of the myth of soma as it could attract more players back.

I recently advertised the game to someone I met and they tried it out... they hit the nail on the head when they said the game was cool but didn’t appeal unless for nostalgia purposes which is what the majority of us still playing get as we all played esoma or some server since esoma. I want more people playing and for PvP to be better.

IMO PK will be better when we have more auras... many of us have agreed in the past that some of the CTF auras should be added in.

I would like an aura that I can use only once every 1.5mins which allows me to blink to a target and that target cannot feather or run (slow effect) for 2-3seconds.

Lets look into giving 1 rangers that cant stone the ability to catch their moving targets.

For mages perhaps the aura they get isn't blink but something else to counter it - again they can only use it once every 1.5mins that way they either tp after or take the risk of getting killed.

Dsoma suffers alot from archers and mages with feathers that can just attack 1-2 range chars from a range without an issue.

I could imagine a good skill for Spear users might be a ‘Knockback’ skill that makes a realistic connection to how a spear can be used to wind someone and the effect being they are forced to only be able to walk for 10 seconds or something

Personally i'd just want to see it more difficult to kill capped people, much more satisfying getting a kill on someone who is hard to kill and doesn't want to be on the feed than just two banging people who get grieffed daily anyway so it doesn't really mean anything. When you look back on older PK wars people can take a lot more damage so everyone's more than happy to stand and fight for ages when outnumbered rather than run/tp/log

Definitely don't agree with removing k/d though, obviously in specific cases it's abused but in general id say its a good indicator of who does and doesn't look after their char

would be nice to make gvw great again also but i dont see you all leaving the alliance ... time for a 3rd or 4rth force to stand up

there a reason why people dont show up anymore, enjoy the boring gvws ... would be more fun woith 4 forces going for stone in stead of the common 2

Hi there Zoldier, using an alt account again because you don't wanna post on your main despite the fact we all know it's you....

The reality is that the K/D obsessive folks are not engaged in genuine PvP and none of you know how to have a good time on soma beyond logging in for minutes at a time to get yourselves that easy kill on a characters that the majority of the time don't fight back. The only time you engage in group PvP is when you outnumber your opponents and rage log if things don't go to plan.

There are people on this server who don't log off the minute they are outnumbered.... those of us who run our opponents round on various maps and actually having fun in the game. It takes genuine skill to avoid 10 people chasing you from warp point to warp point of a morning.

K/D counter is not a true measure of your skills in PvP in soma. It should be removed and an incentive system put in place to encourage good PvP sessions instead of this warping every 2 minutes.

All of these ideas are pointless unless something else is changed, not everyone wants to be involved in pk all day long people need to be able to hunt or farm etc. I personally think there should be certain maps that dont have pk mode enabled at all and others that do that have a better reward for being on them and also have some function to promote pk.

To make all these changes they are only making it worse for those hunting when 5 or more attacks come along they stand 0 chance... to be able to jump to target etc makes no sense unless theres a specific map for it that peoples only goal is to kill?

Also my unpopular opinion as it seems... i think the server should be wiped every 3 years to bring some freshness back, servers living so long get stale with everyone have maxed gears and multiple capped chars not knowing what to do next. With a wipe we all start again and its that excited rush again as we are all
Noobs on level playing field i just personally think thats the best bit of soma.
Also with regular wipes the gms can try more daring changes to try get that ever eluding balance sorted.
