Quest Based Gear Focus

Hi,

I was thinking about this the other day and i thought it might be a nice thing to implement in the future.

The idea comes from World of Warcraft whereby a few expansions now they gear alot of new content around progressing a piece of gear.

If we had something like that i think it would be great. So, for arguments sake if it was the next hero item, rings per say. you:

start with a base ring with multi stats to reduce the upgrade prospect other than dura

complete more and more quests to add to the tag and stats on the ring.

The basic concept is, you start a quest journey with a nice item and spend time making it stronger, rather than how we are at present where you have nothing until after you have completed whatever the quest requires.

I think the incentive to make a nice item great is far more motivating

Nice idea there Typhin, could add some depth to the game if you throw in a story around each "growth" stage as well. +1

Is this like the class based weaps in Legion? I forget what they were called...

Anyway +1 to this.

Could have a quest to get the weap, then further stages of quest where you can pick a predetermined option for that stage of weap, i.e (using a bow as an example):

Stage 1

+3% accuracy
Or
3-3 extra damage
Or
-75 recoil

Stage 2

5% chance to proc no dura loss on shot
Or
5% chance to proc a double shot
Or
5% chance to proc life steal at a % of damage

Etc etc etc, details are irrelevant at this stage but this is my understanding of the idea...

Should only be able to have 1 weapon per char, untradeable and subject to breaking when upgrading just like any other item.

Imagine a staff with a chance to proc double cast or something.....

The quests should be difficult and time consuming, but accessible to all. Maybe something similar to hero quests, hero weap?

Yes @RYUZAKI In legion they did weopons. In battle for azeroth they did an accessory necklace. So it may be ruffle less feathers if it was a ring at least to trial the concept.
