Suggestion: A new 'reporting' form on website

Hello all,

Having read through the current craziness of the MoS discord, noticing the extreme pressures it is placing our GMs under, and seeing that it has even caused lack of sleep... I wanted to make a suggestion on how we report rule breaking in soma.

I want to be clear that this post/thread is NOT about rehashing the current drama unfolding in discord. I just do not think it is fair that our GMs have to get 100's of messages off players in discord and that we expect that to be a valid 'system' for reporting concerns. I mean, sure if it is a server issue or crash, then discord is useful for tagging our GMs so they can take swift action. But if it is a matter of rule breaking or a major bug issue that needs fixing then we should be able to submit a form. I would suggest we need to be logged into an account in order to submit a 'report' and that the form itself makes clear that false reports or 'multiple false reports' will result in suspension too. It should also have the option of attaching evidence as pictures or linking to youtube video footage.

I think that having a form system on the website, allowing players to select who it is they are reporting from a drop down menu, and choose what issue they are reporting from a similar drop down menu, would be highly beneficial in terms of allowing GMs and potentially our new moderators to take swifter and more efficient action on rule breakers.

Thoughts?

Bad idea.

People should just be decent, and only report things when they have solid evidence to back it up.

A form on the website would just be too convenient for a flood of baseless reports which would need to be looked through.

That said, I'm not particularly fond of soma atm so take what I say with a large pinch of salt.

I agree with Ryu. The community must self govern as much as possible.

Considering the size of your community it might be a good idea to actively discourage reporting people, not encourage it with an easily accessible report button that will for sure be abused.

Bans really shouldn't be permanent either. Short of continued harassment, bans should be days or weeks, not forever. Even botters should simply have all their items deleted and allowed to continue as normal. Seems like everyone and their mother has access to a capped character anyway, so not exactly a big issue for the community.
