sorry if this is a repeated question, its hard to find search results in this forum

returning to dsoma, havent played since 2014

wheres my int??? i punched alot back in the day, now im sitting on 5/125 int & 54/96 wiz @ lvl 59 swordsman

I see i have points to allocate, but only 6. not sure how points are accumulated or when they were implemented.

*edit, maybe im somewhat lacking memory, punching was for wiz not int... correct?
eitherway both stats seem lower than i remembered

the stat system for dsoma was changed to point allocation to try and find a better balance for stats

The new stat system also helps futureproof your char from having to reroll if an update doesn't favour your build, you can just change it.

Gain 6 points a level, bonus 5 every 10 levels (6pts at 59,11pts at lvl 60, 6 points at 61 etc)

Generally max str, max dex, max con, rest into wis for levelling, completely ignore int as swordsman and leave it at 5, just use mp pots. If you mess up adding stats, there's a level 10 quest that gives you a respec scroll to try again, can buy them for daily marks from daily quests too so its not a big worry.

Don't have to do any punching anymore and can hit pretty much anything +/- 30str for xp, gaining faster xp hitting the ones with more str than less.

Gimping stats is a tactic now if u want to stay at a mob, you can just not add points to str and keep gaining xp on wbm for example if you like the rubies they drops in conti. People like to stay at evolved beasts or wbm for xp rates and drops. I stayed at demented hogs that way to skip crimson apai and tarkhili knights as they aren't efficient to hunt with the wis you have at that level and its a better leveling route to just stay 229str at hogs, don't add points to str(keep adding to dex and con), keep leveling and then add them all in one go and jump to devil deities when your dex is higher, you'll be a higher level and can then accept all the tark quests in one go and complete together for nice rewards then never look back at them.

Sword 2nd aura got improved, barely need hp pots apart from hunting end game mobs that use auras themselves. Few mobs will die in less hits with 1st so its usually better sitting in 2nd.

Once you get to around lvl 110 you'll start wanting to decide where to end up with str and con or add more wis. Important milestones are:
257str+145wis for 2 handed valour sword
158str for 1handed valour sword
250con for valour shield
Con 190(top),192(pads),194(boots),196(helm) for devil hero armor parts

lvl 75 for hero armor quests
lvl 100 for hero earring and necklace quests

capped stats can look similar to:
278/278 str 257/278 str
224/224 dex 224/224 dex
250/278 con 250/257 con
162/214 wis 183/214 wis
5 int 5int

You'll probably change them to some variation at least once a week or so. Having less str and more wis is fine especially if you fight RvR mostly. Con becomes less important after 250 as at that level or cap you fight mostly mobs that use auras and true dmg that ignores def so points better spend elsewhere.

Welcome back :)
