Crafting cap plea.....

Author Content Date
A small request, plea to increase the crafting cap to 500.

It was a nice touch to increase the crafting cap from 400 to 450 but as mentioned when this came about many players have a character that crafts in cooking and potions and are virtually left in limbo as they can only increase one of there crafts to 250. By increasing the crafting cap to 500 will allow these characters/players to continue there crafting journey and gain the 250 in both there respective crafts, thanks.

What is the benefit? Saves you logging another char?

Never really understood why there was a cap for total craft. If a charcter wants to get max in each craft, why stop them? I mentioned something similar in 2013 in response to a similar request. here

It existed so that in a community-based online game you couldn't (nor could anyone) be 100% self-sufficient and whilst you was able to be a jack of all trades, you then couldn't become a master in any one of them really. Likewise forced people to have to return to town as a part of it.

TLDR; It forced trade and dependence on multiple people as a part of social/community building.

Quite irrelevant at this stage of the server though.

If a Character / Item wipe was to ever happen - You could make this poignant and even more relevant again through all sorts of ways as crafting was a real 'playstyle' and could have been infinitely improved.

I agree Me Fox, when back in esoma the crafting cap was set at 400 and with knowing that with also the fact you only had 1 account (3 characters max) that you couldn’t master everything on one character.

With the exception of cooking and potion crafting it made sense to have these 2 crafts on one character great example was the character Ainslee but for the 3 metal crafts knowing you could only get a max 4 special repairs regardless it made sense to focu on one metal craft as your main craft. The only reason back then I took my armour and accessory craft from 70 to 100 was purely for the extra additional bag weight.

On here though bag weight virtually been removed from crafting so there is absolutely no bonus to play a crafters role. It’s taken 40+ extra levels, 32 con and robes that give an additional 100 bag weight to roughly have the same bag weight I had back on esoma.

For me soma has never been crafter friendly in that the crafters to me have been looked upon, treated as 3rd class citizens. No disrespect to iSylver or Finito on here they have made some great improvements over the years for crafters but so much more could and should have been improved, added and created.

I know I’ve been a pain in the arse to all the GM’s over the years esoma and here but that’s just down to knowing the crafting side of soma has so much potential and not much progression.

It was purely on this when the team on the other server, what they put forward to me and invited me there it was the buzz I was looking for to see the potential put into the crafting side. But I just couldn’t commit the time sadly and regret not being able to see it through but will always appreciate the time I had with you all there and I know any soma that has you Mr Fox and Mickyc it is in good hands and you will do the best for soma.

And wrists, mouse emulators ftw.

How about a new crafting skill also. Gotta be a 200 skill as reward for the true crafters. I would think a 100% chance to actually making the upgrade item (prepare, etc.) would be fair considering the lowish skill req for even the new items. 130-140 skill req for most new items
