To combat mages cast problem give Hsoma 4th staff like Dsoma has and that would solve all the issues.
It’s worked on Dsoma for years. The vast majority of mages use 5th axe first anyway so it isn’t like they aren’t going to cast at all anyway. |

having just broke someone's valour bow trying an upgrade.. going from +2 to +3... im sure they would have appreciated a free +3
up to the community what they want or prefer.. or more to the point.. up to the gm's... but as ppl keep saying.. breaking at +2 is painful Ideally..from a personal point of view... 200+ crafters should get a free +3. Discuss hehe Or, probaby less greedy would be a free +3 for everyone for all items that go to +8 Or.. the ghost method, which some seem to prefer.

Guaranteed +3 doesn't solve the real issue, it just moves it further down the road. X time from now people would want guaranteed +4 because they keep breaking stuff going from 3 to 4. It doesn't address anything, you just break stuff at a different point.
Ghost is a relatively simple addition and would boost the economy without having to overhaul it completely. I imagine the +2 won out in the discussion last time because at that point it wasn't a full time job to replace things the anvil ate. You could realistically farm and trade to replace them, now you can't.

It's 2 years, or thereabouts the +2 was brought in.... if a +3 was brought in now.. another 2 years before ppl started moaning, asking for more... that wouldn't be that bad would it.. or bring in ghosting... and form ur place in the queue at df/palus and try find some sd's x other than that,, wotever tbh .

Lots of things drop diamonds, Loopy, and more consistently than palus and devilfish. You make it sound like people out killing mobs is a bad thing and not, you know, the most significant part of the primary gameplay loop.

it would be more than possible with some degree of bad luck to have a ++8 weapon that has had 6 fails. so you only have the speed from the first 2 upgrades. perhaps limiting ghosting to +5.

Remove the free +2 and replace with ghost upgrade, to limit weapon speed only 3 ss per weapon and only for +6, +7 and +8 which would stop the weapons hitting 300-350 recoil which is only a matter of time before it happens and the weapons become a bigger issue!
I believe the fastest was 399 at +7 on a val bow? Only saw a pic of it so could of been faked (it is still possible to get faster at +7 anyway) but if it went +8 it could have hit 335 recoil!

wasnt faked and broke
They should increase range and cast speed of new spell add 4th aura as well, to compensate instead as people have already made insanely fast valour weapons.

Why not just make first 5 upgrades 100% success and those that wish to risk trying +6, +7, +8 take the chance with rng.
Not everyone plays 24/7, investing the time/effort into soma has become more of a second job to most genuine players that play by the rules. You have the risk trying with combine, you have a risk trying to make the upgrades themselves, then you have the risk at the anvil...... Way tooooooooo many obstacles in place to suck all the fun out of logging on anymore, yes it’s always been like it before the posts start coming, but that was when soma had 300, 400, 500+ players in it’s time, there was an actual economy, there wasn’t this few items that are worth anything and have 95% of items worthless. I’ve said it before, bring the fun back into soma, bring the rewards versus invested time back into soma and the UC will come back. The reason the (fake/ghosting) didn’t happen iSylver and the to the rest of you was during the discussion I pointed out to rest of the council at the time that the majority of players felt the guarantee +2 was the better option than the ghosting and I pointed out, not to rush because this anvil decision was a very important one to take since the anvil/upgrading is a very important point of this game we all love soma.

Both scenarios don’t seem like any type of fun that I would enjoy. Where is the actual fun in investing months to then find yourself back at square one with feck all to show for your time? At least if going +5 with 100% success was here more players would have something to show for all there time invested and would keep them playing because there having fun and seeing the rewards for playing regardless of your a 24/7 or a 1-2 hours here and there player. Going the +6 to +8 would be the risky part and so it should be imho.

Let’s actually look at this present fun you claim exists within soma at the moment.........

This isn’t fun, it’s why so many players have left over the years.
