Interesting points, but not surprised to hear about a player buying an ingame item for real life cash, so all I have to say about the buying/selling of items is I hope the gm’s find out who it was that payed £750 for a valour bow is dealt with and also the seller. Maybe if you know the player/players involved for the future of soma you might pass the information onto the gm’s?
As for the valour weapons/armours the scrolls still drop but only from mobs you can actually level up on and it seems a very low drop rate. I think it was wrong to change the goalposts on how you buy the valour weapons in that you could buy whichever tag you wanted to before and now it’s random, the gm’s should have both methods in place to cater for all. Was speaking to a guy who’s attended the hoard event, they have enjoyed it, plenty of teamwork needed to progress so all players can play a role in helping to get through each wave. But there last attendance they got d/c while killing a boss and after logging back on they watched as they reappeared in the hoard map only to be kicked out to tyt which obviously they wasn’t expecting. So I think this needs looking at, I understand there’s plenty of players taking more than 1 character and just standing on the sides collecting scrolls for being there, but if your actively taking part, attacking mobs/bosses and being part of the team you shouldn’t be punished for d/c surely? This that aren’t actively taking part sure kick them out. The abias mat stocks, where to begin. There an absolutely joke amounts that restock, it’s 2023 they need increasing and more frequent restocks, the shops should be open 24/7, restocks every hour on the hour.

I would never grass anyone up for buying items tbh, its something that has always happened and probably always will happen and i would say the vast majority have done it so its unfair to ban imo and again inguess people do it to compete as they dont have as much time
If the game was easier people wouldn't need to do it thats my point about it. For example people used to sell EPs for £1 each maybe 5-6 years ago, now nobody would buy eps as they are so easy so this is an example Its only my thoughts anyway i would like other players to do a similae video and I would love to listen to them

Agree on immune pots except going immune to bosses shouldn't be allowed. Should be for hunting only.
I'm a bit torn on the valour shop, on one hand if I get a hardened/rare/epic they all break anyway and looking back I coulda sold them and made a profit while also adding to the economy. I think generally horde valour drops need to increase, valour doesn't drop too often and bosses sometimes drop 1 scroll. Minimum should be 5 per boss. With harder bosses having a minimum of 10. If the drops are better then the shop could work out. Everyone said about the bow before release but alas it is what it is now. Only thing to make the other weapons better would be to add special abilities to them like immune to stone or extra hp or extra acc or something like that. Also SS should be +6 +7 +8 and toe +1-+5. I don't believe it is too late to fix this. Dan was afraid of getting slaughtered by the community so didn't change that but as we have all seen 300-400 val bows will be common at some point and the game will be unplayable. Nega bows were a problem before this update and mostly the speed issues are down to % recoil removal. See [Intense] Horned Bow+8

I guess there lays the differences of opinions, as you yourself where caught and banned for buying a item for real life cash and apparently the majority have done it.
Well I haven’t and never would cheat and I know many others that play by the rules, and play games in the spirit and way that they were created for. Grassing players for cheating should be what players should do for the good of the game and the gaming industry, your actually no better than the cheats. All cheats should be banned, it’s the only way.

Franco doesn’t cheat.
Linnyi doesn’t cheat. Foxtrck doesn’t cheat. MickyC doesn’t cheat. Prowler doesn’t cheat. I could go on but I cba. I’ll just say this I’d rather have a small UC on a server that is free of cheaters than high UC that cheaters never being punished when caught.

well done on the effort for the video
think you've done the exact opposite of what you intended.. any or all of the fixes you suggest ,could be implemented, but wouldn't fix a situation that is beyond fixing the extensive cheating and buying that has gone on for so long and still continuing has done nothing but alienate the majority of the older players here, and certainly any that might be thinking of starting/returning.. someone mentioned a rewind? x (btw 7:20 mins of vid was Hurricane... think it was only a +7 hard apus ( possibly +8 )

Tbh mages are only balanced because of melee dmg being so high now. Val weps aren't as strong as u think if u build to survive instead of pure dmg you don't get hit as often due to dex/eva, also you don't hit as hard players who build for pure dmg should do massive dmg as they take the risk of being melted by anyone with even just a acc helm when I played mynamewontfi I was able to tank multiple enemy melee chars with no problem by using eva/dex gear even when wearing md robes imo the game is more balanced now then it has ever been apart from maybe some slight tinkering to Val weps I think range 1 weps should get a bit of a boost in dmg to make up for the risk of range 1 pvp but I'm obviously being biased

Agree with most of the points in the video (I only skimmed through because lazy). So many quick, basic things that could have been done years ago to improve the experience for new players/chars.
Simple things like database changes are so quick and easy, yet instead hours and hours are spent on a valour system that doesn't really work or add anything beyond more grind. The fact that valour weaps can have such low recoil shows a frankly worrying lack of thought and understanding. The grind was fine during lockdown I guess, most had nothing to do and nowhere to go. That's long gone though and the grind is now worse. The 'more spawns for mobs' thing is also something I never really got. When you look at how much of each map is essentially dead space, given over to mobs no one ever kills. It always seemed dumb to have everyone rammed into a tiny space. Also think it would be nice to have the barr auction house back. Thought for a while now that would make sense, since barr is actually worth something again. The 250 craft skill... I think certain people are deluding themselves if they think the average player is going to get to 250 crafting skill. There were so many ways to address that issue without adding a few hundred hours of timesink. The question for things like that should always be "will this help the UC?" and it's really hard to see how that answer is "yes!" I can't wait to tell people i know that left because of how broken the item treadmill is how they can come back, spend hundreds of hours getting mats and crafting, just so they can finally upgrade a few items without breaking them... It's difficult to emphasize how dumb of an idea it is, trying to address grind by adding even more semi afk grind. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise at this point, though.

The elephant in the room, sadly, is it seems that neither GM appears to have very much time nor inclination to do much except maybe the odd quick fix once in a blue moon. Without their time being available I cannot see very much changing in the foreseeable future.
. With respect to the council reforming, I dont see this happening as Dan doesn't like advice nor ideas that aren't his - which makes a council pretty much pointless - which is why I stepped down. . As I understand it, the new weapons were intended to bring humans closer to devs for fairer rvr, a good idea in theory, but ill-thought out and hurried into game. (I ignore how not-Soma the new weapons appear.........) Weapons should ideally give similar dps, no one type should be significantly better than any other. Reduction of attack over distance goes some way to address bows ( does it also apply to magic? ). Reduction in attack should maybe also happen with increase in speed too for all weapon types to keep the original dps more or less the same..... End game needs rewarding dailies and a whole new map ( Foxy has a brilliant one) exclusively for capped players with drops being worthwhile (and maybe drops linked to moral in some way..................................) Anyway - I dont see anything great happening in the foreseeable future so enough from me

"BIGBERT"The elephant in the room, sadly, is it seems that neither GM appears to have very much time nor inclination to do much except maybe the odd quick fix once in a blue moon. Without their time being available I cannot see very much changing in the foreseeable future. Good to see you still around, Micky and thanks for the compliment on the map, I don't know which one you might mean but anyway. I agree with you that there is a much more evident lack of presence / time. I think two years ago, the presence just wasn't in game but at least somewhat, elsewhere. Now its pretty vacant outside of the game too. (Discord, I can't comment on). I don't think the way in which Finito and iSylver 'work', really gels with a council to exist or ever did. Whilst previously we all (everyone, including me) got swept up the moment they were a part of it, the none-exhaustive tonnes of ideas and unformed relationships just made it a chaotic mess and egos got in the way(mine included). That all being said, there is a need for informed decision making and rather than it (largely, if not completely) fall on just iSylver, he would benefit from having several people from different ends of the community he can simply talk to and most importantly be able to ask questions to and get opinions. Not even as a group but just different directions to get information from. That isn't a hint for me but you yourself Micky would be a good person (and sample of a demographic) to listen to and get opinions from, whilst getting opinions from others. I offered to Finito several weeks ago, I would happily do artwork and mapping contributions but the route taken on this server was 'low hanging fruit' for content in the guise of PvP / bosses and I doubt I'm the only one that can use the map editor or make artwork, so as far as I'm concerned their perspective is there is not a need to continue the game's story or to add depth and have the games content evolve visually, it would have already happened otherwise. That's not a criticism but more of a direction that was decided - this server was created out of the fires of the "P Server scene" not a sequel to Esoma. Something I've repeatedly forgotten and that this isn't a server run out of love for the original game, it was driven by technical curiosity and challenge with the potential to make a bit of money on the side. Again, not a criticism. The reality is, I think they just needed a couple of people to pass bits of work too, the stuff that takes time (which is a lot of Soma, sadly), such as artwork, map edits and even new items but i don't know if they ever really wanted it or knew what they wanted. I think over time that constant and relentless feeling of expectation and thanklessness towards them has derided a lot of motivation lately but its been around for several years either way. Maybe the donation store was that one element that kept them going even if it had some large pay days from our perspective and now it's gone, they have too. If it were me, I might have concluded that this server is just up out of courtesy now but hopefully good news is coming?

The game is way too grindy, levelling, gearing, crafting, everything requires a ridiculous amount of time and effort in this day and age.
Ghost upgrade would help this massively, increase drops as well, speed up rates and there’d be less incentive for botter’s/a black market. The damage output is off the charts insane, which was already the case with nega weapons let alone this tier. There’s no donation store, very little GM presence, if this server is up just so people can have fun at this point, which seems to be the case.. then make it significantly easier for them to have fun by implementing these changes. I haven’t played for 2+ years and I can see all of this.

would be a reasonable point..
but consider how much of the gear is bought now... why bother putting in any effort if so much is bought and obtained by cheating.. just wasting ur time |
