Ancient armour

After speaking to a mage recently I thought I would make this thread regarding the Ancient armour.

As we all know Ancient armour is the top tier mage armour and apart from a few bosses that drop this only Prism Spiders drop this from a farming mob 24/7

Unlike the Titus armour which was the top tier until the recent valour (champion/Corrupted) armour was added. Titus drops from bosses but also Hellish Trolls, Vafer Raps, Elder Mags which can be farmed 24/7 now for some not a big deal but for others it’s about fairness.

Surely it’s about time that the Ancient armour was added to Necro wasp and Elder Mags to make it equal regardless of if your a warrior or mage or whatever.

Totally agree.

I also think the price of valor armour should now be lowered to help counter act the dps on mellee weps

I guess so - in terms of Ancient gear.

Finito said in discord recently he wasn’t going to put out any new content or tiers until he’s got a handle on things and the situation at hand so he can be sure of the next move.

So in the meantime he’s just doing odd bits that are easy and simple. I guess this is one of those, if everyone agrees anyway.

Ancient armour in particular is in an odd place. By the time you can kill enough of the only mob that drops it, most are long past caring about it.

Drops in general have needed changing for a long time though, it surely has to be the biggest contributing factor to the majority of pve players quitting. It directly ties into the character stagnation that frustrates pretty much everyone.

The vast majority of drops from all the top mobs aren't even worth picking up, so why bother killing them in the first place? The thread below complaining about the sd drop rate from trolls is a good example - the sd rate isn't the real problem, it's the fact that little else worthwhile drops.

The persistent reluctance to have things players actually want dropping from regular mobs is stupid, runs contrary to the point of games like Soma and it's hurt the server far more than valour stuff being unbalanced.

100%, I’ve never understood this.

Soma is a game that thrives off having an active UC out hunting.

If worthwhile (and the most desirable) items actually dropped at a reasonable rate in open world, open world would be considerably busier which is largely the root of what Soma is about, whether you’re a PVE or PVP player.

I know I’ve banged on about overhauling dropfiles for as long as I can remember, another item that I’ve brought up numerous times is Rok’s ring of knight it’s drop by one mob and that boars. The time you move to these you probably have better rings made, they should be dropping from blg’s, Shanis hell even devilfish, palus, warban, warmess these are the mobs that you want to be getting the roks especially for when you first move to blg’s at 84 str.
