What the fuck am I reading? People suggesting making bots available to all to solve the bot problem. Making the game pay to win to solve the problem of people buying items for irl cash. Jesus fucking christ,

You're getting rattled by a suggestion but you're not rattled by what's been happening for a long time?
Where is your concern about the botting and item selling that's been happening for ages? Perhaps you could suggest some ideas or potential solutions to level the playing field?

"TEEREX"You're getting rattled by a suggestion but you're not rattled by what's been happening for a long time? I suggest a myth of soma pump and dump crypto/nft scam to fund the server.

"SUPER6""TEEREX"You're getting rattled by a suggestion but you're not rattled by what's been happening for a long time? Fees generated from an online marketplace could pay for server costs, it could pay Finito for his time, it could pay for a full time Mod who could find resolutions/ ensure botters get dealt with or deal with the endless bickering that takes place here. These are good things. No scams are needed. It would be on a different server, there could be a choice. Of course none of this will happen but its still good to talk about possibilities, though it seems a little scary for some.

would guess that for gm's to enrol in any crypto market business ..they would have to demonstrate ownership or possession/ permissions of the game they are registering..
something like that isn't possible.. as far as i know..and would be a right pain in the ass.. redtape wise..which Finito proly doesn't have time or inclination to do.. even if this was done... it would still result in pay to win.... which kinda defeats the ethos of playing games for fun.. the current buyers and sellers are making fools of the honest players.. and also the gm's maybe the gm's could have been more strict in the past when punishing cheating.. tho they have to be cut some slack ..when considering the uc... maybe some leniency was deserved No idea where things are going or might go... After k's of hours play personally..and many others have too... then the current situation must pee them off.. I believed the extent of cheating ''wasn't that bad'' for a few years.. it's probably got worse since the valour weps and their potential value is obvious for the cheats.. Casual players might not be too bothered about a '' few cheats'' and buyers and sellers and press on anyway.. Others of us have played soma for virtually half our life, in one form or another, and invested serious time..so passions can run high ! Anyway.. no idea..so shushin x

Botting is inevitable in most games nowadays but you could limit the impact in soma through making combat more complex. If mobs did more things that require thought (interrupts, dispels, movement out of strong aoe) then the botting programs would need to be more complex. Mini bosses spawning in the middle of standard mob spawn areas after X amount of time/X many mobs killed could help too. Unfortunately the nature of soma’s simple combat invites botting, if you can’t stop it with technical controls, then gameplay controls are probably needed.
Then to avoid people farming low level mobs due to botting on higher level/complex mobs being too difficult, you could implement zero drops from killing mobs that are too low level for you. Pay to win again exists in pretty much all mmo’s nowadays, reducing the botting would likely help this by reducing the amount of items flowing into the economy due to 24/7 farming. Supporting/financing the server and development - cash shop convenience is typical nowadays so implementing something like paying to have items soulbound, paying for SRs, armour gender change, expanded storage space, character name change, character gender change are all sorts of things that people may well pay for.

"LUP2SCUS"would guess that for gm's to enrol in any crypto market business ..they would have to demonstrate ownership or possession/ permissions of the game they are registering.. Not true. Like I say this has been implemented on a Mir private server without any issue. Again the buying and selling of items will happen no matter what you do, doing this does not make the game any more pay to win than it currently is. Creating an open market simply adds security and transparency. It also funnels money back into the server which could then be used for additional time and resource to further improve the game, and again it allows the team to safely open up donations again which were previously cut off due to charge backs. Mir & Soma private servers both kicked off in and around the same time, soma slightly later iirc. The difference in the quality of the files nowadays is night and day. Mir has had multiple sets of new files coded from scratch, insane amount of additional features, new classes added, the list is endless. The reason for this is because of funding. Its all well and good running a server out of the goodness of your heart, but at the end of the day people need paid for their time otherwise you're not going to see very much progression, which is exactly what happened with Soma. There are 1000 other things that could come before this, no doubt about that, but again how do get these things implemented without paying someone for their time?
