Gained Rested out of Town

I think you should be able to gain rested XP when you are logged out and not in a town.

Why? Realistically, the only time you wouldn't have logged out in town would be due to Network troubles.

That would mean you gain rested in between fighting mobs.But suppose it could be changed somehow so that doesn't happen.

Make it so town gives rested xp when logged in (so you can gain while crafting), and being logged out gives rested xp no matter where you are.

Yes, mate. Logged out players add a lot of atmosphere to TYT...

If you have an ACTUAL reason why this would not be a good idea, I'd love to hear it.

This is a great idea jara. Not least would it take all pressure off having to tp back to town, but it would also encourage players to pop online more and hunt - logging into town to gain rested means that I would be less likely to hunt more often because of the distance the mobs I hit are from town. Consequently, I'm offline for longer periods to gain sufficient rested to warrant a decen hunt.

Possible problems:
Might this encourage players to go angel/devil knowing that they would benefit from rested despite not going to town?
Would this devalue rested exp? Should rested exp really be exclusive to the two major towns?

Can't you get rested XP from the human gypsy village (I honestly don't know)? Afaik, there is no devil gypsy village; so in that sense, yeah, I guess it would benefit those players that go Angel/Devil.

I don't think it'll de-value rested XP, though. It just makes it so you're not forced to log out in town (and it doesn't matter if your internet suddenly goes down for 2 days and you were in the middle of hunt; that's 30%+ of rested XP you miss out on which is a lot!)

I'm not 100% sure on how rested works so feel free to tell me to stfu. But shouldn't it be the case that rested will not affect your endgame stats? As in, you'll gain the same stats in the same xp but it will cost you twice the time. This might be how it already works, but since I don't know anyone who hunts without it then I imagine it's because it wastes xp. I know I don't mind it taking longer to gain if I don't need to spend so much time waiting for it to be worth it.

rested % doesnt affect gains true but affect % gains thus you gain stats faster
this proposal benefits more dsoma since its all about gaining the % needed faster in order to lvl up and get your stats.

So in theory, the time you spend waiting for rested could be put to use hunting and overall you'd gain just as quickly.
If you're just afk in town/crafting or whatever then you're wasting your own time. There will be times when you can't play for longer periods and you'll gain rested naturally then, so what you're all asking for is rates to be upped permanently. Then there's no point in rested.

Rested XP doubles the rate you get XP, Stats and Skills (except crafting). That's all there is to it.

Really, the only reason I am suggesting this idea is so we don't have to miss out on rested XP because we "couldn't log out in town" due to Network problems, as that is the only time I see where any of us wouldn't log out in town.

Imagine yourself being a somarian. Would you feel comfortable setting up camp next to a wraith area to rest (sleep)? Or would you be guarding yourself 24/7 and not getting any rest at all?

There's some rules about this in Dungeon n Dragons I believe. As long as you're not in a hurry or in a place where you can get attacked you can do other things like rest.

Personally I don't like this idea. The only way I would except it is if it was 2-5x slower gained than in town.

Aside from your lame lore reasoning, why don't you like the idea?

Personally, I don't care about lore if it detracts from gameplay (which in some cases the current system does).

Are we not lucky to get rested as it is? no other server from what I know has ever done it

Rested is a bonus if you cant be bothered to run to hunting spot the next day on first logging (few mins at that?) you just plain lazy

don't agree as I thought rested was to help bridge the gap between casual and 24/7,pilot, multi's
