Time of the guild

Thought I would create this thread to see how players thought of guilds.

Has the time gone for guilds? Is there still a place for guilds?

I see a few guild names that have numbers in them and lots of what I’d call solo guilds. Apart from Arcanix who truly are the first port of call for new/returning players is there room or a need for guilds still.

guild storage for storing crafting mats... have ur alts for xferring stuff to do sr's and equips.. are the staple use for solo or small guilds..
bigger guilds like the chit chat and some of the above...

and then there's the gvw.. possibly a bit redundant now from what it used to be...

but on the whole.. guilds are pretty essential for many reasons

storage and easy xfer of stuff from one player to the other.. being the main one

Cheers Lupi, raver, your replies are what I felt was why so many have guilds for extra storage and transferring purposes.

Guess really I was wondering if there would be a need or use of a new guild. Where casual, pve players could come together and possibly give a next step up from Arcanix which is the place most start there journey?

Some games created a holding or a 'default' guild you belong too, when you create a character or return after x amount of time.

It would be cool and help to keep the community elements of the game together, especially if it had a higher member limit and, somehow blocked from GVW. (Which I think is what you was thinking about, is that right?)

I’m split on the gvw, only cause I know from experience even if you know the guild your in has absolutely no interest in gvw, some members just want to attend now and then and let off steam have some fun like the good old days in that “whatever happens at the GV stays at the GV” it’s nothing personal if you hit someone there.

I keep hearing good things about the trails of valour, especially with the teamwork requirement which I think has somewhat been missing on soma for along time. These type of events need to happen much more, yes we have wotw and ss but there a different type of teamwork and can be manipulated or abused.

Maybe I’m just reminiscing about the old days, guild wars, guild hunts, all players coming together to destroying waves of mobs, bosses etc

Trials of Valour has a very interesting mechanic which doesn't exist elsewhere in Soma ...

Waves of mobs attack from different vectors. These mobs are random. As each wave progresses, they become more difficult and bosses are added. Wave 10 and Wave 20 are different so we'll address those two later.

Normal Waves
After the completion of each wave, we ALL get a number of Valour Scrolls. The number is the same for each of us. Mobs and Bosses do not drop stuff except the occasional small gem.

As they get harder, there are more bosses. It is important to work together for a number of reasons;

1) The STR players need to keep the STR mobs off the INT players
2) The INT players need to keep the INT mobs of the STR players
3) The trash mobs need to be killed before the boss(es) can be properly addressed efficiently
4) Parties are formed so healers can heal tanks and others who are taking damage (Pots are not infinite)
5) Time is imperative. The whole event lasts 50 minutes - the more waves you kill the more Valour Scrolls each person earns - you need to act quickly and not fart around

If any person dies, there are less people to kill the mobs and waves, therefore there will be less waves and, in turn, less Valour Scrolls. It is in everyone's interests to keep folk alive.

It is therefore in each persons interest to interact efficiently with each other person present (which is what doesn't exist in any other part of Soma)

Wave 10
This is the first main boss and it's death drops Negamare weapons. The standard tactic is to lure it away from all its minions (there are loads of them) because this boss fires INT out over long distances. Poor INT characters need to stay out the way. Of course, that means they can't get the weapon drop. (trade off for not fighting it). Once it is dead, the minions can be dealt with.

Wave 20
This is the second and last main boss and it drops Champion Armour. It is also lured because of the large number of other mobs (all INT mobs and another couple of smaller bosses like Garshuk lol). Again, poor INT characters need to stay away or they will be murdered in cold blood by long ranged blasts of INT nastiness. After it is killed the remaining (large number) of other mobs and bosses are addressed.

Misc Things
1) There are intermediate levels where supplies are provided (refills of serums, pots etc). These are limited

2) If you stand still for 20 seconds or do not attack an NPC you are removed from the trial

3) Waves continue after the Big Boss @ 20. the more waves killed, the more valour each person gets.

4) If you survive the first 19 waves (not hard even with a small number of folk) you will receive 53 Valour Scrolls

5) If you survive level 20, you get another 10 Valour Scrolls (63 total so far)

6) Some folk teleport away after the Champion Boss because they are more interested in Champion Armour and less interested in the Valour Scrolls.

7) If you continue past Wave 20, it is easy to get around 100 scrolls before time runs out if the team is quick.

So, all in all, very different to the rest of Soma and a great way to get Valour Weapons and Champion Armour from the NPC in the castle without doing all the really hard Valour quests.

It kicks off at T10 and to join you type /tovjoin

No doubt I missed something ...

UNFORGIVING.

I made this guild to bring together active players from Vikings / Koreanz / No_Mercy / Valient in Order to overthrow the DARKLEGACY alliance.

He're a video of our frist attack as UNFORGIVING.
