Players unbanned botting

Author Content Date
Seeing as the punishment is a week ban the positives far outweigh the negatives. Let's all get botting woop woop.

I'll bot myself to a +7 int bow and decent gear like unicorn and then take a 1 week ban any day!

The opinion you should follow should be your own, just consider this to be a second opinion, from a complete stranger, online.

Permanent bans: Why I'm against them.
This applies to all players, there is no favouritism on my behalf. Permanent bans are counter-intuitive to the growth or sustenance of our small community. Whether banned individuals are friend or foe, losing players has a trickle-down effect on the server, which you do not want.

Where permanent bans are beneficial is where players have gone beyond the realm of abuse towards other players and are commiting to malicious attacks outside of the game.
Repetition of a ban reason should yield a second strike and ban of 2 months, a third repetition is where you could consider permanence..

I am referring to no specific player:
Unfortunately, bots are something that will be extremely hard to crack-down on, especially as the servers upkeep is potentially handled by just Finito.
Players from many groups/guilds have/or are using external programs to aid in-game performance.
I in no way condone their usage; we lost several players some months ago due to keyloggers imbedded in third-party clients. The risk and reward doesn't seem as though it's in your favour.

Bots are even harder to crack down on if there's no disincentive to using them. A week off while you play on other chars is a joke, especially when those people have been caught before.

Yeah, banning chars forever hurts the population but so does the tacit acceptance of bots. When a bunch of people are stupid enough to get caught - in some cases multiple times - and there's no punishment beyond playing on a different character for a week, you end up with nothing but bots.

It's one thing not having basic things in place to flag it - and I'm not talking about any sort of anticheat tools, simply the flagging of chars who craft all day or back when valour dropped regularly spent 20+ hours a day hunting low level mobs - it's quite another to not give a single fuck when the dumbest of the dumb *still* get caught.

Too many chars and too much sharing, should consider another punishment - like removal of random items.

I'm all for 2nd chances and forgiveness but in no way should they be unbanned with the gear they have botted to get. All items should be removed.

Remove immunity mechanic and let the community govern without need for bans.

Where does racism rank on the list of "length of ban" ?

Just curious because I see homophobic abuse littered all over this game and assumed it would be in a similar realm, which is funny in some situations but when the person being attacked is genuinely homosexual it's surely a form of bullying at this point? I genuinely don't even know who the guy it's aimed at is but I see it all day.

Game is a joke, a 1 week ban for botting, seriously? And I heard this was a ban that was dished out after Fin personally tp'd to the guy and investigated it himself...

The excuse that the community is small, is such a dumb one. It is small because botting goes unpunished, all your pve players that felt they were rewarded for whatever labor they put in, have vanished.

Giving players a ban for a week then unbanning them is all fine and good for a first offence, but when these same players/characters have been caught time after time after time after time, then it’s just taking the piss.

It’s a fucking mockery and I bet the cheating bastards are still crafting at the forge on there multiple characters, ban them for good and for life.

It should be really simple..... If your character is caught botting or exploiting then that account gets a permanent ban.

The people who lose accounts can decide to keep cheating and risk another ban or play legit.

There should be no warnings or week bans. There should also be a wall of shame discord channel where Finito posts screenshots of the botters or just posts a character name. Sunwell Warcraft server do this and it works great.

It's less work for the GMs in the long run as it seems to be the same people cheating as they know its only a week ban. It also seems to be the people using bots who cause a lot of drama on the server.

I don't think this change would have a negative impact on usercount.
