Questions about being a warrior over a mage (hsoma)

so I have recently caped str and left blg and set up camp at nightmares to finish off my lvls, as im not a lover of the mage class I have chosen to skill another melee weapon rather than picking up a staff, as I want to build myself around the melee aspects of soma.

I took a break from nightmares and thought id try my luck at jumping a few lowish lvl devils hunting in conti, I thought hey ive caped str so this should be easy pickings, I came across a lowish lvl devil called "drok", I took aim and FIRED!... I thought I had him dead when I saw him type *** ( I presumed lol) and he retaliated back, draining my pots and chasing me off the map, I later spoke to him about the scuffle and learned that he has 95 str... kind of a kick in the bollocks seing the feed littered with mage kills on devils and im laughed at by a guy with 80 str less than me.

and that was when I lost faith in being a melee class and pvping in general.

so my questions are..

whats the benefit in caping str?

whys does int seem to be prio for everything? ie, human pvp / humans vs devil pvp / boss killing?

why are caped humans not bothering to actually cap a stat and just insist on making a "balanced char"?

do I have to wait for the cap to be raised to achieve more stats to be able to land a hit on the 200 dex devil melee classes?

do I need to train staff for more Ma for a better chance at boss kills?

they way things are at the moment I wish I should have chosen to cap int over str.

another thing I wanted to bring up is how evasion seems to benefit a lot more than accuracy, I feel accuracy should never have been the same % per upgrade than evasion, il test this some more and get a better understanding of it

In all honesty I thought being STR capped and to have around 110+ dex would be the best pvp wise. Now, Mages have A LOT of MA gear they can put on like. Hero helm and top, Magic Earrings, MA+ rings a staff! and any other MA+ accessory you can think of. This is because they get IMO more upgrades for their class.

Also on the basis of getting all the last hits at bosses it benefits them more than it does for warriors. Obviously they've added a new boss that has mad int so warriors can get their last hits in but still.

I think it has shown that a balanced char will always be better than a char who has trained hard for one. I think Ace is pretty damn solid.

At the moment I am actually getting bored of soma as it takes so long to get stats up. Maybe if it was a little faster I would comeback 100% but the way it is atm. I cant do 0.2 dex or 0.5 int a day (with rested people).

Perhaps if it was faster it would bring people back to get into the action of fun pvp. Most ppl i know play for gvw, wotw etc, training their characters to perfection. Its taken a year almost for ppl to reach level 100, playing probably 10+ hours a day.

Nowadays we're all 10+ years older than we were in esoma. Have jobs, families etc and no that much time for this game. I would think increasing the rate will be beneficial for the server.

Oh and yeah Evasion has always been better than Accuracy. Unless you have a 11% accu haha ;D.

Ps. I miss my char from testserver ;[

I think your post is born of frustration. Any not really a fair representation.

I shall do my best to explain to you.

1) raiding devil conti. Playing a warrior, why are you raiding and trying to kill a fellow warrior? You should only be raiding and trying to kill mages. You don't see mage humans killing Mage devils.. We have to snipe lower level warrior classes. It's the same for you. If we go after mages we get laughed at as well.

2) boss kills. I'd emplore you to name bosses where mages have the upper hand besides shiro and Tiresias? Both new bosses, gorshak, dionaea and warthog are made for melee classes? In fact I would say 80% of gorshak kills have come to melee weapons. Tell me the last time gorshak was killed by a spell?

3) pvp has always been about burst damage. Once you get 5th sword you will quickly find yourself useful vs the weaker str Mage classes. Same as you do with 4th bow.
I actually can't believe you find yourself weak at pvp. For someone who plays against you at gvw, you are one of the first names I stay clear of/kill out of the room.

I think it was the case before int was op. But that was because EQ and a few top
NM rushed it before other stats.
Now melee is catching up. And has drawn level to int.

As for Eva vs acc. Eva has always won. Just the way it is.

That has nothing to do with it. Tolic has hit str cap and shouldnt be potting to a 90str devil. That is just rediculous.

Int is way over powered, and i can name a few bosses, which mages have upper hand due to weaken. Shironim,Tiresias,Grath,Kind kobold,Blood Akah and plenty more. Int is too overpowered now there is no longer a cap. Especially when int levels dont fuck up your hp per lvl and how much upgrades help magic attack. An upgrade should be made for melee chars +2attack on access.

Yup there seems to be something very wrong, there is no way a 90 str dev should make you run, if you want i can bring a 90ish str dev to conti and we can test this out, pm me

you forgot even you already hit cap, you went to a devil map which you are 50% less than your real stats so basically you have the same stre as what that devil mage has :)

those int campers focusing on weak devils thats why they are getting fast kill but not the high levels, i doubt they would 2 or 3 hits a high level devil in their own territory.

Duel Quimm and a capped melee based char will most likely win ... Only using Quimm as he's the opposite in that he capped int ;o
Personally I don't see a huge problem. Int now needs huge str to be effective as getting huge dex and a cap of int isn't really possible this side of cap.

Yeah you have to keep in mind that you're like 50%(?) on Devil Conti. If you have 300 attack, that becomes 150. A devil with 90 str and decent gear is going to have 150 defense. Meaning you do 1 dmg...

I shall do my best to explain to you.

1) raiding devil conti. Playing a warrior, why are you raiding and trying to kill a fellow warrior? You should only be raiding and trying to kill mages. 1.) why shouldn't I be able to kill a lvl 50-60 ish melee devil? im caped and should be able to kill him with no problem regardless if hes melee or mage, the lvl difference should not benefit him over me, I never planned to 2 hit him but for him to do more damage to me is absurd, the raiding % probably makes this a whole lot worse.

2.) as hurricane said the majority of bosses take huge damage to int ,souls bosses pamoth/edw etc there are a few new bosses which are now melee which is better but you still are missing them a lot with them having 200+ def dex, with gorshak everyone does 1 dmg to him? (2 dmg with int+weaken) so why would you opt for the melee approach there? theres a reason Tiresias takes 5-10 mins to kill and dionaea takes 1 hour +.

3) its not that I don't find myself usefull, its the fact that if it is burst damage whats important here then maybe I should have caped int over str which was the main point in my thread, as the int damage people can do vastly shuns what any melee char can do whether its burst damage or prolonged.

It's the defensive dex which is the problem, if you could actually hit the bosses more often it'd make a huge difference. Perfect example is gorshak and tier, you watch all the arrows flying by, most of these people are 90+ dex as well and they seem to just miss constantly.

Raid % kicking in lol, same reason why I don't bother raiding conti. What's the point when you can't drop the average joe like 40 levels lower with your main stat.
