Returning player with a few questions

Hey everyone,

I've been away from soma for 10+ years and have recently been reintroduced to the game by a friend, Ishimaru.

I've done a lot of forum scouring and reading up on the changes and have downloaded the lovely new in game help file, so thank you for that!

However, I still have a few questions which will ultimately determine how I decide to play my HSoma character.

1) I've heard that once level cap is reached, stats can no longer be gained? Meaning that it is very important to train correctly and efficiently? Is this as important as it sounds, or will it not really make such a huge difference in the grand scheme of things?

2) I need some clarification on how important it is to focus on Dex first? I've read that it seems to be a case of players having to level with Bow / Knuckle initially until 90+ Dex?

3) I'm really wanting to use Sword, how is Sword now at later levels for gains? I could see myself getting burned out by just leveling with Bow before I even got to use the weapon I truly wanted to use :(

4) If sword isn't really a viable weapon, what are the best contenders.... is it still Axe / Bow?

5) When would be the best point to break away from str / dex levels and gain some int in order to be able to train str / dex on wraith for example?

Thanks in advance

Answer: You cant make a 'perfect char' that is to say you cannot cap everything in the levels available so dont try. Just play what you find enjoyable. Pure class or mixed. Dex is still king, int helps alot if you want the efficient route of wraiths and min dmge vs melee mobs and all tht jazz

2) I need some clarification on how important it is to focus on Dex first? I've read that it seems to be a case of players having to level with Bow / Knuckle initially until 90+ Dex?

Answer: As i said dex is king always has been always will be but you can hit someone often and do fa dmge so like in life balance is the key. It is again personal choice and how 'hardcore' you wish to devote ur time. If you enjoy a pure dex class like bow or fast pace like knux then it will come on its own. The issue of axe/dex is just one to monitor. If you want the faster str gains you have to hit less often or balance it out with a dex weop. That or ofc buy some acc gears

3) I'm really wanting to use Sword, how is Sword now at later levels for gains

Answer:Swrd is fun. The best thing about sword is the multi-hit auras imo where in esoma u wasted xp if you hit multiple mobs but here its fixed so u gain stats from all that get hit. I'd play sword except i fancy a faster pace with knux default speed since the auras are practically the same except you get dodge instead of hp regen.

4) If sword isn't really a viable weapon, what are the best contenders.... is it still Axe / Bow?

Answer:Play what you enjoy. Bow had its range reduced from esoma so bare that in mind. they are still the extremes of gain for str/dex respectively but as i said you wont cap both so..

5) When would be the best point to break away from str / dex levels and gain some int in order to be able to train str / dex on wraith for example?

Answer:you could do int from the beginning then as soon as you have the dex go wraith for a very long time :P but effective so.. you cant really go wrong. if you read the new manual i assume you read tht you can mix str/int levels without consequence to your hp. More int is more mana to maintain weop aura use as well.

Bottom line is you cant go far wrong. Also there is no MA cap so spell will always hurt if they land. At least with hsoma getting hit before finishing cast is still an issue but meh. i hope you enjoy glhf

Thanks a lot for your time Typhin, it's much much appreciated!

For now, I've decided to go with pure sword for the fun factor and it's moderate gains in both str and dex... will see how far that takes me... I can always pick up a bow later down the line if needs be :)
