Impressed - looking back on esoma

Fair enough the last time I logged in was years ago, I didn't even expect this Soma to still be going but I mean what a difference!
The amount of content added is mind blowing.
Just wanted to say well done to the team.

It was bad enough on Esoma, you'd have a big hiatus and nothing at all would have changed, nothing added.
But can see the amount of work gone into this.
I don't think anyone could of done a better job at keeping Soma alive.

Always been something unique about this game that can draw people back, the community spirit back on the day and the drama was phenomenal!

My original Hsoma character was Quigonngin - I never said boo to a goose really, ran noob guilds and had the shittest character - a Hsoma Mage - me and axelfolie used to laugh about how bad we were.
Guilds I ran were afterlife, equilibrium, was in Red Dragons along time with peace_keeper.

Before War of Worlds patch a friend said he was leaving dsoma, he was called w0rl0ck the archer, I had a few pals that were Devils and he was a noob at the time but I thought might as well give it a go.

Unfortunately for me this was one of the very first cases were a character was reclaimed by original email address, think I lost him when he was level 78, had levelled fairly hard over long period of time - the sad thing is that they just wasted the character, they were a noob and did nothing but screw around.

Quickly a lot of 'pals' offered me access to their characters but I was used more than anything - worst thing I ever did was level up all these friends characters thinking it was getting me somewhere. I'd always been a single player and that's all I ever wanted to be, not cause I had some grudge against multis, I just liked to sleep knowing no one was running about on my character lol.

Guess I was a control freak!

I did let the game consume my life and at the end of the day even though at the time I was a sad teenager who played Soma and was a home carer for his nan I was lucky to have it.
When I was looking after my nan it provided me with the only social contact I had, she was a full time job. When she passed away 10 years ago I quit playing but that's why I've always held the game with fondness because regardless of what went down it helped me at a rough time.
I never put any hate on anyone, I never damaged anyone's character and I always treated folk with respect.

It's great to see this game alive and I hope it can take all the best things from the fond memories I have and keep people entertained for times to come.

Stories like this are why I still run the game. Always great to hear that something as trivial as an old game can trigger happy memories. Always amazes me when I hear that people have met their significant other whilst playing the game. Or even that sadder stories can still touch on your heart strings.

I won't go into things too much but effectively our game brought joy to someone during their final stages of life. As much as sometimes we take things a little too seriously it's great to remember that it is a game and it serves a good purpose in many players lives.

Thanks

I often enjoy just playing solo, leveling a char from 0-60 again and pretending it is esoma :)
