The single most important factor to make this server and Soma last is...

Author Content Date
Creating interaction between players.

Its taken me a little while to force myself into enjoying Soma again, even on this server. This is because a cold server sucks and while this server has a high population compared to other private servers it is still on a lower level of interaction than is comfortable.

It is SO important for players to interact and see each other, it is the basis for how we psychologically earn "reward" in the game. Leveling means nothing if you don't see many people, to continue an addiciton to Soma you need to keep handing out that reward in order to keep people interested. You need to strike a balance.

Currently, there is just too much open space in the server to adequately provide enough interaction for that reward. And it is important to note that all games lose players as time goes on.

I would really suggest that the devs focus mostly on creating more interaction between players. You need to make central points where all players have to go, so that they cross paths. You need to focus where players travel, where they like to "hang out" while not hunting and even trade.

A few suggestions;
*Start closing off unused maps, rearrange some mobs
*For Hsoma focus TYT or another town as the focal point for players - place most important NPCS there
*Add an Arena over the TYT Fountain to encourage more fun and interaction
*Relocate crafting spots closer to the "Hub" of activity
*Relocate Mobs to locations which force players to come into contact with each other more often
Create a PvP map worth having - Maybe keep conti but put a warp gate in TYT/Pand which goes directly to it. Sort out the % problems and remove the "Ownership" so it is a constant potential hunting spot. Create some safe zones. near low lvl hunting areas.

Spend time thinking of initiatives to increase interaction.

The current layout of maps and mobs for Soma was built for a much higher usercount.

Also, I think its important for players to donate to the Server each month, I hope it goes to some advertising.

I've setup a Monthly £5 payment to help out like I would with any other MMORPG, I suggest others do the same if you care about Soma.

I like your enthusiasm and your idea in general is good. The maps in general are pretty large and players are spread out alot, a good thing if you want to hunt in peace but there is a lot of open space thats unused.

Out of interest, what is your level and where do you hunt?

I see people all the time and have done since I started playing on this server.

Where I hunt at the monent I saw 6-7 players last night. That's not even wraith.

I'm level 11. I'm just observing for the moment, i'm not hardcore... yet ;)

I don't believe seeing 6-7 players a night is a good thing.

The problem with your suggestion is the amount of dev effort required when there are bugs that require more immediate attention. Your desires are well backed up, but a better solution might be to not introduce abyss etc again and instead recycle areas of the existing maps that aren't used.

Put up a post in idea's section about a arena where the auction hut is located as that location is totally unused

I agree player interaction is key. Server advertising too. Keep the player count up! But the best advertising is word of mouth so people need to invite friends!

Indeed I really like the positivity and enthusiastic players and this is a well thought out well mannered thread.

The donations haven't been touched yet but they will be going to advertising very shortly.

I'd say Abias is such a good hunting ground with alot of wasted space. Possibly integrating the latter stages of Merc mobs into Abias; trolls/dw and Evil Brics, then putting the rest into TYT. Just an idea that would make it more lively as I do agree that it's a little too quiet
