Upgraded windows 10 to new update 1511 - Game is laggy

Author Content Date
Since I upgraded to build 1511 I have started getting a lot of stuttering.

Has anyone else updated windows and found this stuttering? It is like something is going on in the background, loading of the game or something as it happens as I move around the map. Sometimes it is smooth then the game starts stuttering.

I've checked task manager to see CPU usage but I can't see anything standing out.

Shut the game down and noticing a lot of crazy activity with this new update, search indexer going crazy, one drive, dropbox. Strange.

Might be helpful to others if you update so i'll keep trying to fix it and report back.

Seems like the problem is fixed. The new update made the windows search indexer go crazy and for some reason dropbox and onedrive too. I shut them down and used this page to turn off the windows search indexer http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=faq-Windows-10&faq=53

Sorry for the off-topic post but since windows 10 update will be rolling out for lots of computers it might be useful.

Actually, it is still a bit laggy, like there is a slight ghosting when moving. It is odd.

Something in the game doesn't agree with the new windows 10 update.

moved game over to SSD, closed as many programs as possible, im looking through services to disable now.

Be careful when updating to windows 10 1511, Soma doesnt like it at all.

Hopefully Dan or Finito could take a look?

I'll keep digging.

Woooo FIXED IT!

I just needed to uninstall Soma and Reinstall it. Not sure why this problem occurred directly after upgrading windows to 1511.

I changed my screen res on pc to 800x600
Within the c/soma folder I clicked properties onSomaFull (I prefer full screen) and went to compatibility -
I run in window 7 compatible mode, run in 640x480 res and disabled scaling on high dpi settings/

Hope it helps your situation - it's annoying though

Just installed W10 and reinstalled the game to find I also have the same problem. The game is unplayable due to the same stuttering - like an ultra low frame rate. Any help appreciated. I'm quite sure there will be a simple fix for it

I've been shutting down tons of services, exiting as many programs as possible, i've turned off superfetch and done all kinds of stuff to see what is causing the problem.

I have a hunch that the new "System and compressed memory" feature of windows 10 might be causing this but I can't figure out how to disable it. It is meant to store the pagefile in RAM or something and save on memory but it also takes up CPU.

Sometimes when I log in the game feels fine but the longer i leave it the worse it gets, it feels like a memory leak of some sort.

I have 2 screens. I'll keep digging and see what I can find.

I think I might have fixed it for real this time.

I think i'm correct with the new "System and compressed memory" feature being a problem.

I simply disabled the pagefile and now the stutter has gone and the "System and compressed memory" feature does not show in task manager.

False alarm :( Didn't work, but it seemed to have helped a little at first. The system and compressed memory task has appeared though again.
