Dsoma weapon craft

Author Content Date
With how the tag system works , untaged are quite worthless and the effort it takes to craft a decent tag weapon with the mats req is to much

Makes weapon craft quite worthless itself.

My idea is for weapons crafters to be able to craft a mini upgrade that adds dmg to your weapon with a time limit on it

Could add a few at different skill, so at 20 skill could be 1-2 bonus dmg and at 50 skill 2-5

Same could then be done with armor craft once it's added (def timed upgrade)

my idea with crafting would be something that balances the potential for everyone to achieve the same goal, but not necessarily with "ease"

currently there is no way to match some of the weapons created pre-upgrade exploit and these characters sit on a pedestal with a seemingly unfair advantage. this is impossible to match purely because some players have never had an intense weapon drop, let alone even dream of making it +3, +4, +5. There is exceptions, there's an abundance of swords someone COULD risk for example due to doubled drop table on EB's etc.

so, I think making the top weapons craftable and then with a RARE+ tag option as well (like quests), by introducing a unique material that is dropped by hunting mobs alone which can be traded, with the same style as halloween event.

The idea - All mobs from evolved beasts onwards have a SCALED droprate of a "Monster Soul" this monster soul combined with normal 121 skill weapon materials will produce a RARE+ chance. Make it so that epic and intense ARE possible, not a 1 in 5 billion chance. (scaled as in;, the chance from a war beast miner or hog or apai is higher than evolved beasts - this will prevent someone making a lvl 50 archer to smash ab's with until level 90) you must gain stats from monster for item to drop)

Lets theorycraft and say it takes 10 monster souls added to 121 weapon materials to make it rare+. if you use the drop rate of diabolist and devil helmets on war beast miner as a generalised percentage, it would take in the region of 1500-2000 WBM to achieve 10 souls. This has a chance of failing and obviously RARE tag is still considered "trash" so the time invested would still be substantial, yet you would feel like you are actually hunting for SOMETHING, not just the xp grind.

Now, i'm not saying everyone should be running around with +5 intense weapons, far from it as this would be detrimental. What this would achieve though is by cap, a character would have had the chance to at least own a few epics, and maybe an intense or two that are most likely broken because of the terrible dsoma craft percentages.

Feel free to think my idea isn't great, but it actually ticks a few boxes. Naturally those players who have the unattainable gear will dislike the idea but for the benefit of the server I think it works.

"NEOXIAN"currently there is no way to match some of the weapons created pre-upgrade exploit and these characters sit on a pedestal with a seemingly unfair advantage.

What is this "exploit" you speak of? because I'm pretty sure if anyone made a weapon by illegitimate means Dan would have removed it from game a long time a go just like similar things in the past. I'm fairly confident anyone with an upgraded weapons has done so through risk/reward so unless you have solid proof stop with the silly rumors.

Aside from that it all comes down to luck and how large your balls are. I have intense weapons, would I risk upgrading them no because I know how rare they are. Some are willing to risk everything and sometimes it works out.

think ARROW made a few weps back in the day, a spear and a knux i think both +4/+5 using the exploit where if an upgrade failed you got the upgrade item and weapon back. seen them both in the "flesh".

stones had the knux at the time (dont know if it still in game)
not sure who ended up with the spear

Carnage has the exploited spear arrow made on nuclear, hence the above comment lol. Nothing like the saying 'ignorance is bliss'

It was along the lines of,

Do upgrade, if it fails, quit the client
Log on, weapon and upgrade back in inventory
Due to every upgrade attempt being a new rng you could end up with +5 fairly easy.

Not sure why the exploited weapons weren't removed but arrow managed +5 on stones' knux and nuclear's (formerly stones') intense spear. Maybe he'd of done more weapons if it was fixed later away but eggs don't drop every 2 mins after all.

Anyway I'm definitely not bitter about that, but as mentioned before it'll be nice to have enough weapons drop that risking an intense isn't the only chance you'll ever have to do so.

I think this was when upgrades first came out though, ninja fix happened quickly enough. Also, when the duping exploit occurred early days on dsoma a few original players (vex being one of them) were allowed to keep the item for some reason. Only thing I can think of not removing the items is that the quitting also prevented the packet being sent to server to say it broke, who knows.

This doesn't mean game is broken and no one should be happy, I don't care about some duped diamonds, rings that didn't take the souls when handed to npc and some upgraded weaps but i would love it to be a reality to make a weapon similar not just a never gonna happen dream :)

I actually thing a level 100 should get an automatic epic+ weap anyway.

All rumours, sounds pretty daft saying some players were allowed to keep exploited items rofl. If any of this actually happened I'm pretty sure said items would have been removed from in game.

meh sure dan and fin will confirm its existence, reasons for letting them keep shit is obviously their discretion and meets their requirements. not everything is a rumour or made up carnage... ever the pessimist ;p

This is just my word so i don't know how you would want to take it, but ARROW showed me the knuckle and explained how he created it, he gave it to stones and stones also confirmed the story (stones is an odd chap we all know but that was 2 people verifying)

The last time i had seen the spear was actually jaheria showing me it in trade a also confirming it was made by arrow under strange circumstances.

I have no reason to lie about this, i dont play anymore and have been in coven for most of the 2 years i did play, jah was a good friend of mine when i did play so i'm not trying to be malicious when i mention her, thats just the last time i remember seeing or hearing about one of "those" weapons.

be interesting to see if there is any GM input on this, be interesting to see if it was just all bullshit and the risk really did just pay off, or they were duped

I have a +5 knuckle and there's nothing dodgy going on there, so its no dream!

Just play a little more instead of going to the forum about minor things :(
