What are the formulas for STR/DEX gains with weapons?

Author Content Date
So, as someone who has never got a character passed 68, and not a good character even that far: Where should dex and str be in relation to each other for the ideal mobs to mesh? About the same number? Or should one be higher? Obviously that might not be possible because you can only use so many weapons without suffering from low skills. But in an ideal circumstance?

Sorry if this is a side topic, but this would be really helpful to know.

95% sure if you hit str cap for a mob dont get dex anymore aswel

example say dw str cap 95 and you hit with 80 dex you wont gain dex no more aswel as str but if you have 90 str and 80 dex you can stil gain dex off them

Im sure ive noticed that on a lot of p servers before

could be wrong tho

Correct. Mobs cap on +31 of their armory STR / INT. For melee gains are based on STR and for magic gains are based on INT (DSoma punching is classed as melee, even for mages).

So does that mean you're better keeping your dex above your str?

Personally I always favoured dex behind about 15-10 behind on my str.

same but I believe later in game when your dex gets above 100 you end up getting str and dex at the same speed with bow (hsoma)

See, it seemed like in the past everyone had str ahead, but if what people above are saying is true, wouldn't it be more beneficial to have dex ahead to be on the same mob for each? I guess if you're doing bow/axe, then you're heavily focused on one stat at a time anyway, but there are still gains to be had even then. I guess I just don't understand the rationale.

Thanks, 31 for hardcap, but is there a softcap? What is the most optimal?

I believe the gains gains are gotten through staying under a mob's stats.

As for DEX above STR, that's all fine and all, but DEX is slower and generally seen as more boring. It's more fun to move to the next mobs. It's all personal play style to be honest.

If you find Fireworm a little too tough, go to Warmess.

You'll level on them noticeably faster. They have less HP and less Defensive DEX.

You also will NOT be hard pressed to find lots of them.

Conti Warban give more experience, have higher str and have less HP, the same defensive dex, more moral and have a better loot table (also drops weapons and diabolist).

Also just as many Warban in their own dedicated spawn as there are Fireworms (on conti that is).

Fire Worms are shit and I have never understood why people hunt them.
