Int/Dragons Breath

Author Content Date
Made a thread previously and seen others mention it too, Int on this server is absolutely crazy, I know we are only two months in by my god no wonder literally 90% of the population is doing int up to 100 and above.

Dragons breath hits FAR too hard, I know there's only two guys working on the server but surely its easy to see this? I think theres only 5 people on server with close to 100 str.

'Shut up and do int' I have done but surely its something that needs looking at?

Literally every other spell other than Frost wind, weaken, slow, blind gets negated.. elemental spells wasted etc. not sure how easy it is to add an 'effect' like poison to a spell but we could definitely use things like that?

Again I know its only two people but at least the dragons breath and such can be looked at.. spell is ridiculously OP.

I have to agree, int/spells need some work on. It would be good to add some variation to spells to stop them from being obsolete when you learn new spells. E.g. Scaling benefits with int, stacking spells to do more damage, spells that do big damage but damage the caster too or more.

I think if people come up with ideas it will be easier for the devs to implement them.

Just make DB really mana inefficient, so it can't be used to hunt effectively.

It already is.

I think DB seems OP now but long term I think it will be just right. Means those who prefer int will be able to use their chosen path to attack those using melee.

I think its fine really, anyone who spends an equal amount of time as a person doing int, will probably hit them so much that the int person cannot cast, or do much else apart from cast heal...

If you want to run around wearing hero/halloween gear and expect people with high int to not hurt you, you are very mistaken, once anyone has 97 int and is wearing mostly a nm set, nobody is going to hurt you very much with int...

Give it another 2 months when people have faster weps and acc gear, and the number of people using int will drastically drop.

I'm not fussed about DB, more around the fact that old spells become useless.

Its the same as old weapons though - noone with Knight sword runs about using their blackdevil sword.

Old weapons as in staves? You still see people using first, second, third and fourth auras though when they have fifth.

You need black devil sword to get five star sword, whereas you dont need earth elemental to get db.

it will all even out eventually imo, try being a mage when every1 has a speed weps with accuracy

Yeah, could still have variation on spells like micro stuns, slow movement, heal over time, mana drain etc.

Not about hunting effectively with DB its more in a pvp situation like GVW its a ridiculous spell.

The issue is that Int hurts MUCH more than melee, like Iphios said nobody runs around with a black devil when they can use knight but I'd be better off using int than using my knight sword, hell even zao's ripper. The damage just doesn't scale effectively. Easy to say well stop the mage from casting yeah and I do, when I can get close, however the damage doesn't scale the same with melee and int, not saying I want to 3 shot people but its quite sad when I'm better off equipping my staff than using a sword.

Agree with Razor about the spell effects but think thats a seperate thread etc.

Not entirely true.

Melee scales more than Magic does.
Weaken simply doubles the damage you deal which is what creates the illusion.
That said, it's removable with ease so not really an issue unless it's group pvp.

1 str = 1 attack
1 int = 1 magic attack

Melee weapons bonus to attack is much larger than Staff bonus to magic attack.
The reason mages hurt you a lot, is because you're not a mage.

Also most people during gvw are wearing armour as opposed to robes, which is akin to running about naked.

Have a mage with 110int vs another mage with 110int, they won't be hurting eachother much.

This isn't WoW.

Don't forget Acaelus you have to factor in WotW.
By the sounds of it you're only thinking about GVW, even in general PvP an archer is alot stronger than a mage.
If db was nerfed you'd have to nerf the range on Bow.

As someone with probably the lowest int out of all the lvl60+ people i think it's fine and tbh the game is getting more fair by the week. tweaking db is unnecessary.

The point i made was in reference to attack ie melee att vs MA. - you will always pick the best to use in a PVP situation.
Elemental spells have never had a purpose in my mind (nor have all 2 handed weaps for hunting) but as Acaelus said - its a separate thread. (Created by Luther i think)

There is a drawback to being pure mage or highly magic based levels, mages will never be able to recooperate the levels they've lost doing int. Where as primarily str based chars will be able to still cap int at level 100 (providing they hit it and presuming the level cap isnt raised when they do)
