Server Update and Halloween Event

Server Updates

+50 str stat bonus is now given up until 84 STR.

+30 int stat bonus is now given up until 84 INT.

Stat rates from healing is now 4x.

TYT weapon and armor shops have been updated.

PK immunity has been increased to 1 hour from 30 minutes.

New music and audio sfx have been added.

The Halloween Event has also started with town decorations and also with triple drop and exp rates too! The event will run from 25th October 2019 until 4th November 2019.

More updates are to follow during the event.

How The Halloween Event Works

All monsters that give you stats will drop letter bags and using them will give you a random letter. These letters can then be made into a word. For example if you have a T, 1 E's, an O and 3 R's you'll spell Terror which Meister Spell will give you a reward for.

Find them all out and you'll harvest some great rewards.

The Mysterious Letter

There's just one letter that can't be deciphered, collect enough of them and something will happen.

Remember letters will only drop from monsters in your stat range! Enjoy.

@tyro this is why I wont be returning everything that is added is making me not want to play, people want super chars for putting in poor effort This isnt a dig towards anyone it just simply isnt the game it once was for me now

Legit dont know the game plan here? Making it far easier to cap and build gear, and for what? Theres a select few who PK the rest moan theres nothing to do at cap and blame OP gear, go get your stats easy mode and OP gear, you still wont fight. I punched hundreds of hours for a stat wipe and my human is age 16 and still hasnt capped, yet will still fight. To many people just want to run to end game and all you will do is stand in town with your +8 bow in town and still moan

Really dont agree with the immunity increase. Might come back and do abit of mag farming on the 3x rates but was hoping for something new and interesting on the event. Im sure Esoma had a few different pre made events, are any of those still in the DB to use or is there bug abuse issues with those? Thanks for trying tho. Will keep an eye out and might be back at xmas I guess..

Disappointed with the community volunteers on the first update direction. Hardcore foundation characters have always been a part of Soma and the first thing the volunteers went with: to remove the essence of hardcore character distinction. Who remembers Soma beta (with different stances) and a mage who healed to Sorcery (32 INT requirement at the time)?

2/2 The whole it doesnt make much of a difference to overall stats to build a hardcore foundation character is exactly why you dont change that. The event however looks great, although the server is down right away lol

I dont notice any difference in int healing speed. It was taking 2 hrs before, im 1hr in and expect to get soon.. and we have x2 rates for event ?

Keep the rates to retain the low level players, you may as well. Even though I dont play atm, we need new blood. Send out a mass email to somadev users and the database emails since 2013 about new rates and drops imo.

Have the drop rates been turned off a day early? I figured it would be ending 11:59pm on the 4th. Also not seen any Halloween Letter Bags, so Im guessing its over? Will be back to play again when the next event starts, enjoyed this event. Thanks team! :}

Yeh I popped on this morning and noticed rates are back to normal. I uninstalled. Guess ill be back at some point for yet another short nostalgia burst before uninstalling again.

@SPARKSTER Yes, it is strange. Some thought/hoped it may have been extended due to the client issues and downtime, instead it appears to have been cut short. Side note: TYT weapon and armor shops have been updated. did anyone figure out what that was? I couldnt work out what was different.
