Str at cap raise

take it your an archer? if you get stoned magic and shotgun bows wont hurt much as they will likely be at a distance. or would you prefer to *fight* from the furthest possible position and expect to be no1?

Myth of Soma is all about Archer or mage according to Leonardo because he doesn't like to get 'banged'. I think there are plenty of players who would like to PvP toe to toe with sword / spear / axe / nux so if anything can be done to increase that likelihood is a good thing imo.

Alot of people are missing the point completely this thread is about making warrior a viable choice rather than just warmage, I couldn't care if bow stays exactly how it is, I care that 130-140 DEX (which is attainable) is worth more than 171 str.

I know Veigar but the discussion has evolved. If the str cap raise / removal that you seek isn't viable (like lupi sais) then modifying bow and mage capabilities ( like Arrow sais) would be another option in allowing current str capped warriors to be more effective?

I'm not saying myth of soma should be all about archers and mages at all. Im stating that soma pvp is like that at the moment. The main problem why people don't use other weps is because of the kill death ratio. If it wasn't visible to see how many deaths and kills you had I think people wouldn't care as much about getting banged. Also to bring other weps into pvp, why does bow have to get nerfed? Why don't the weps get buffed a lot? Everything honestly seems to be nerf bows because people use them. Yeah I agree bows are the most used weps ingame but you can't just keep nerfin them because people don't want to train a different wep, maybe buff the other weps?

with that logic, whats the diffirence? bow/magic nerf over buff other weps. would both have the same result o_O

Ofcourse there is a logic, what don't you get? You could nerf bows so much no one could use them? Is that what you want? Or you could keep bows as they are and buff other weps to bring them inline, which bows would still
Be useful but people may consider using a different pvp wep. Keep nerfing bows and I honestly think people will leave. What people don't get is this server is totally different to the old test server, which everyone uses swords and knuckles for pvp. This won't happen on this server as it's a slow levelling server, you can just reskill to 150skill in a day like you could there. People care too much for their kill death ratio on here to use a range one wep. I'm sorry but you won't stop people using bows for pvp unless you basically destroy them, which if you do that, there will be no pvp . That's my opinion anyway. Tbh there isn't much pvp anymore anyway which it's sad to see.

Arrow was getting at buffing other weps to make them inline is the same as nerfing bow to be inline. they're the same thing. i think.

Well, bows weapon base damage is too close to that of Axe, Sword, Spear.. there is no upside to choosing a ranged 1 weapon if you're going to do virtually no more damage than using a bow.

A buff to the other weapons is needed, not a nerf to current bow dmg.

Take a look at Mauler compared to Psycho Xbow - The attack of those two weapons doesnt exactly show a STR based weapon vs a DEX based one, they are way too close in dmg.

This has always been the case on ESoma because damage is based on STR and not DEX. Therefore someone who had lvled with bow would have less damage than an axer due to the STR difference. We should also include eva / acc in this picture.

This of course, doesn't really apply anymore as people firstly get the stats they want and secondly go for the weapon they want at end game.

Indeed. It would make sense to modify bow and weaken it a little instead of buffing other weps. While most agree that buffing the other weps or nerfing bow is the same thing i think that nerfing bow is the correct option. In response to Leo, its overly dramatic to say everyone would leave and pvp would be destroyed. Bow would still bring easier leveling pve options and a pvp benefit of 'banging' from a distance. Theoretical change like this is about leveling the playing field and diversifying pvp.

I disagree. Nerfing weapons is harder from Finito's perspective as we can't change tagged or upgraded weapons. With a buff this wouldn't be a problem as it'd only go up, but we can't just delete the older stronger weapons without a riot.

Buffing the other weapons should also help getting them slightly closer to DSoma.

What is your opinion on having an unreachable str cap ghost (hsoma), Surely it has to bring levelling power back to sword/spear.

It would also minimise the need for bow because you could gain more dex than you currently can with 171 str cap (assuming you were sword or spear or mainly axe)

EDIT: It would also help with race differences a 190 str human will stand a better fight than a 171 str human?
