Every time something changes like this their is a natural friction towards it (think every time Facebook redesigns). We’re entirely confident it will achieve good and it is right so we’ll see how it performs in somas frictionful ecosystem.

We welcome feedback. However, we ask you test it and you don’t make every thread a guild bashing rivalry it’s tiresome / childish and the majority of you are 30 something adults!

According to this logic - Soma would never change?

Never another level cap raise, no more new mobs or bosses. It works... .doesn't it? So why add new stuff at all? Should we revert back to ESoma completely? xD.

I know I'm taking this comment a little too serious - but surely moving forward is the only way to go?

And yes, we do anticipate some problems with the system. Luckily we can adapt based on your feedback. :)

So if MBL spawns and its all VK at it I’ll just log on another character pk it twice and try and steal the boss :0

Is there a rough ETA on the new pk system?

Also can we be sure that the spawn chasing rule is gone so that all pk is fair pk? If that is set in stone then it really should be a self-run system ^_^

The only thing that would need to be policed is people killing their own chars as link says

People complained about the new dsoma levelling system before it came out

People have tried it, not liked it and left

That system remains in place regardless

Personally I think this change will work for the better. Allowing the pkers to do what they love, whilst letting the levellers to operate with a degree of peace.

Man I been reading this all night while I was at work what you are complaining about is losing the ability to kill someone over and over regardless of whether or not they are even trying to fight back.you need to get over yourselves 99%of us are adults of u get ur rocks off by endlessly killing someone until they get so pissed they log then maybe instead of playing soma u should go see a psychiatrist with the change from what I've read if u kill someone and they revive and attack u back u can kill them again if that's what u desire if they don't attack back u can kill them one more time just to show your dominance/be a prick and then guess what u can go find someone else to kill pk wars don't seem to be affected as pikutin has said

I know this is just one run on sentence for any grammar Nazi out there

I think the easiest way of balancing rvr would be to give humans an “rvr” hero set and weapon. Not sure how this would work in a t6 raid. Unless you made all the set weight 0. Maybe the same for devils but with MD armour? Would be average- good armour with acc / eva / speed weps but with high defence and damage. That way melee could get involved. This would mean hsoma wins more so int hits lower.

Wouldn’t need to be much coding I don’t think, they would just need to be made and put ingame?

If balance is an issue, they can be tweaked accordingly.


Think one of the main problems is the dex disparity between hsoma and dsoma, even there axers have 160+ dex now. While only two hsoma chars which are basically pure bow and only have 170 str have 160 dex. Human archers can't hit n devils never miss.

For me I don't think this will change pvp at all. But it will stop people and guilds monopolising bosses. I've been in the same situation as jac. I was the only one from my guild attend a boss and there was 5 or 6 rival guild members there. And made sure i couldn't get close. Now I will just die twice and still be able to have the chance at killing a boss.

This will step boss hoarding and all stop grieffing. And don't see why people don't like it?

"FLAWLESS"Good pod cast, however I urge you to see things from a different perspective. I am against the pvp changes, as are most people I speak to.

Apart from Matty playing Subxero, I haven’t honestly seen anyone been griefed in months? Certainly not since the cap raise. Everyone seems respectful of the move spawn rule?

Matty on Sub knew what he would bring by admitting he was sub. He is a grown man and I am sure he will take revenge once capped.

Subxero aside, who has been griefed?

Cupid and Buffy die a lot, but then they just stand still with a bag full of ressies saying “go on go dev on me” and bait kills. The same would apply to Sandokan and PHP I imagine. There is legit not a way to “grief” someone unless the want to be griefed really at the high levels.

I really don’t see all these players who are quitting because of being griefed, I don’t see any griefing since cap raise all I see are people leaving and the changes haven’t even been made official yet.

We should look at two easy and strong changes that wont take long to implement and won’t change the whole complexion of the game.

1) been mentioned for years but moral is to easy to gain. Take moral back to esoma rates so going dev is a life / 2-3 month choice.
2) just have a pk free map (merc is laregely unused) change up some spawns and make the whole map only drop barr. If people want to level they can level in merc.
3) mag spawn in merc but lower drop rate vs vod so again there is a trade off. Or make the mag spawn in vod a blue safe zone like in wotw. (Think safe zone is best idea) because mobs that stone shouldn’t be pk friendly.

The above solves the griefing, and doesn’t change any game play and I doubt many would complain.


Again realy good non biased points looking at things from both sides.

"GHOSTLORD"Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. :P

The amount of PM's (regardless of sides) is about the same as ever. This mianly due to the seemingly permanent PK wars going on.


I would honesty just delete any pms from people in Dl,Titans, Vk and NM.

These guilds are at war. Its a great part of the game. If people dont want to ve involved they can join guilds like arcanix or sparta or make new guilds. Gvw would be even better as there would be a few less in the big guilds.

All this is doing is stopping people from griefing which is against the rules. it an automated solution to a rule break.

This stops vk greifing so im happy with this change. And whn a certain char is capped 2 kill min on his vitums. I can see thm quitting too

Just my small take on this.
Don’t play enough to really make any difference to my life so not bothered either way.

But, with this being such a large change to a element of the game that’s been this way since esoma I feel some of the anger towards this idea is the fact instead of it being done the proper way and on the forum so all can discuss it etc before implemented / agreed . It was done over world shout I believe with maybe 35% of the active UC on?

My only gripe with this is ... well this is not a test server is it? A massive change like this is something I would expect on the test and you test it and adapt or remove it as is the will of the UC . How ever if we are making huge changes like this after such a long time maybe you should wipe it and put this in from the start .

Anyway just my take on why some party’s may be taking this worse than others as it was forced down their necks instead of suggested and debated .

Small disclaimer this is not a go at anyone it is my view and my view alone

Can i ask a simple question? On this podcast tom n matty r all for a huge change to the game being implimented with no testing what so ever. But want the test server to b started up again and used for a little silly thing like 20% armour buff? Surley the huge change should b done on the test server before the live? Like most other big mmos? Just a thought about the podcast as this is its thread for discussion and this looks like a flame thread as per lol.
