This is going to be one of the major talking points of the next CAST so please if everyone could make there suggestions and ideas.

We strongly believe people would have more incentive to play if the drop rates were better overall...

Thoughts?

Hsoma I don’t think there is a problem with drop rate. On a good hunt at mags I can get couple rdt/dt and other hunts I can get load of other stuff. I think from lv1-110 drops are decent my last few levels at boars was slow with drops but I guess it’s the rough and the smooth, I had 1 weapon of some value. But it keeps items worth trading.

Would be good to have a v2 of mags once cap is raised with the highest tiers dropping at a sensible rate, mags was designed for level 100s ...

Dsoma all drops need to be tripled imo with new items added..

It's not so much the drop rates, its what ever seems to be effecting the range

Going a week with decent drops to then have nothing for the next 2/3 weeks is just demoralising.

My issue on dsoma atm is you can hunt for months on end trying to get upgrades, but then u have months of hunting mags (which isn't a easy mob to farm for none range class's) for armor to upgrade, at which point all fails wasting months of work(even if u success the upgrade, months to go before u can try again)

The stat difference on dsoma top tag weap/armors mean u need to combine for intense are u just can't compete, and currently combines been realy harsh

Both hsoma and dsoma need more relevant drops. Mags are end game farming mob so should only drop endgame armour and weps and all ups and maybe Meds instead of smalls as an incentive to hunt. Every other mob should drop smalls and weps armour that are useful to those hunting them. Mage upgrades should be split between the top 2/3 mage mobs maybe 2nd best drops MA route, staffs and robes , 1st drops procs and armour. As time goes on and more and more people cap perhaps splitting mags into those 2 separate routes of mage/melee could be a solve with additional spawns being added. (maybe a 1000dex tbow mini mag with low hp for mages instead of molten magus?)
My points are a aimed more at helping pure mages become a bigger part of the grind i guess buts its only a suggestion =)

**Edit. The mag splitting into two types idea is to stop people like me hogging a normal mag spawn to get upgrades that i am 100% going to swap for a Magic upgrade, if both types were more concentrated would probably see more drops without changing rate as the range of drops would be smaller and would possibly fix the low drop rate of dsoma.

stinger tier weapons need to drop from monster other than mags. maybe like blg at a slow rate. can spend so many months getting nothing. if your unlucky. rubies n maybe dt if your lucky.

Way too low, Have killed around 15k Mags and had 2 epic stingers drop both rubbish attacks. And out of those 15k mags I've had ONE intense BWA which is the only intense mags have dropped for me.

It's simply not worth the time or effort when i could do something more constructive like craft, or level a new character.

I don't think it's just mags though, but across the board - I've been levelling at blg and for the past 3 days not had 1 ruby. I know dan has increased boar rate drops however i can't comment as haven't moved onto them yet.

People need to think about the bigger picture though too, If you get a couple of tabs in a hunt and you are lucky a rare stinger etc you then have to pray to the anvil that it doesn't rip and this is when it demoralises you the most.

I think it is too difficult for lower level players to get good items, The only time i had anything decent is if someone would borrow me a bow or i had to wait until mags.

What about a quest for lower levels like a Hero weapon which is A+ Apus for example and non tradeable?

Also i agree with JAHEIRA, this whole "rng" thing seems too long of spells for 3 days of no good drops then 1 day fairly decent. Has to be some code in the db or something.

I think the "fluff" drops should be removed.

e.g. for Hoarde Shanis, these are what I would class as "fluff":
+25 HP/Mana pots - absolutely no use for folks hunting there
Gold/Blood armor - same as above, all at shadow+
Ring of Warrior - they drop Ring of Fighter
Staff of Sky - I think this is common on all VoD mobs & needs killing with fire

Replace the pots with +50/100 HP & remove above would be a great improvement tbh - it would reduce the reliance on running a healer there if pots weren't such a restriction.

I'd just like the excitement of a drop, instead of "oh look, a staff of sky".

Another point would be weapon/armor drops overall.

I agree that perhaps the final tier weapon should be on tough mobs, however before then I think it needs some attention.

Take my experience with knux for example - I'm way past the requirement for a Pan Claw, however still unable to kill mobs which drop HH, let alone a Pan. That leaves me in the position of trading/begging for gear.

Similarly with armor - not seen a single piece of bitter/bone drop apart from bone boots/pads.

I think it would be great if there was more chance (not a guaranteed chance!) to get level appropriate gear whilst levelling to encourage continued play, rather than stagnating with no gear progression.

Up them & in the case of d soma, drastically.

Personally I feel that drops need to be upped for more casual players - not massively but say by 25/30# across the board.

Nightmares need to drop more, CTs/tows, maybe saphs & amethyst as well.
Blg should now have a low drop rate of stinger tier weps
Mags should drop Shak weps as much as boars

what can i add that has not been said already?

drop files for literally every monster needs to be added, all should drop things like at/db/sp herbs/livers/frogs and weapons/armour that is appropiate for their statistics

but when you do get a drop, lets say its "hard" tagged. that then needs a combine. i failed 21/24 of my last 24 combines. thats 21 items lost. IF you manage to get the drop, then manage to get the combine, you have to pass the anvil test. several times for a decent weapon. it can take hundreds of hours to make a really nice set of anything.

way too long.

time > reward = cba most of the time, and i think the UC = many others wont do it anymore

step 1 = get drop
step 2 = get upgrade (may need many)
step 3 = combine (can take many attempts)
step 4 = upgrade (repeat until competative)

i know ppl will say "shouldnt be easy"

naa, sod that - its a GAME, for FUN, and basically this game isnt actually that fun. personally i dont upgrade anymore, and only risk hard tag on combine (or rare bone) so i minimise my losses and buy upgraded stuff

costs alot

i know this is a grind, but seriously... why does it have to be SUCH A SLOG

no need, bring soma into 2018 and up the reward factor so time = joy not.. rage/hate

I totally agree. RNG at anvil is bad enough as it is let alone the RNG of getting the item in the first place.

A few suggestions to pick and choose from;

1) Remove RNG fully or partially (may need to exclude some items?) and make it so drops are based on your total amount of kills based on existing percent chance. There is already a system in place to track mob kills (dailies) so shouldn't be too much work? E.g let's say the probalbility of a medium ruby is every 1/300 so every 300 will drop you a ruby
2) increase drop rates in general but I suspect that there may be objections to this as it could affect the economy in an irreversible way. Personally an overall increase would be appreciated.
3) 10% at CTF is a waste of time, increase to a minimum 20%+
4) Remove untagged item drops and make everything from a mob drop hard. Much more chances at combine.
5) or combine untagged 3/4 for a chance of hard.
6) combine rate chance increased.
7) rework the drop lists, appreciate there would be alot of time and thought needed but it would be a massive quality of life improvement for the game.

increase drop rate on dsoma, not sure about hsoma

remove crap drops tbh aka high end mobs dropping HP pots(dsoma) not sure about hsoma so cant really say much for hsoma but dsoma its not nice getting a HP pot lol

3) 10% at CTF is a waste of time, increase to a minimum 20%+
i kinda agree with this but with the time it starts hardly any of us are on lol
