"DISCOBISCUIT"I think drops and upgrades need retuned in a sense we are not in are low 20s or even teens most of us are close to or over 30 with families or starting a family at this point it's harder for the normal ppl to spend as much time in game as we used to and it makes it even harder when u do spend a decent amount of ur small free time just to get no drops or RIP what u did spend all the time farming

My suggestion to fix or alleviate this issue would be maybe as a 400-500b mag daily that u can turn in for hard-intense tag wep and a 2000-3000 weekly that gives a hard-int dhak tier wep would at least give something to work toward maybe numbers are to high on kill count for casual player so that could be tweaked but would help fix the feeling of wasting time not getting anything I think


That's not a bad idea, similar to mine but probably easier to code.

Sure if some people have multiple chars they can do the 4x (this is an arbitrary figure I'm plucking out of my ass) or whatever exp rate I suggested, but as you say this is going to happen with any way of increasing drops from what I can tell.

One way of doing it is like my PK suggestion, have 1 hour every 4 hours for i.e. where its 4x rate of drops and it is announced in global. Make some of those hours fall on peak hours when people who work/have a family are more likely to be able to log in.

I did suggest having PK mode turn on and off like that throughout the day but hey I'm a carebear.

drop rates all round jus need a 20-30% increase .. drop files updated to be relevant .. and a 20-30% increase in success at the anvil..and evry1 be happy..( ish )

For what it's worth anything before BLG is a joke. Mobs like dw, warban and even hoarde should have a much more relevant drop file. At this point in the servers life it doesn't really matter, but as a rare new start to this server, I had to rely on the generosity of others to even get basic items like bone armour and weaps for my level. Something that could easily be rectified by having mobs drop the right stuff. For example even if hoarde just dropped bone tops, maybe even apus bows, instead of gold parts and blood bows.

The game is skewed towards end game users which makes sense considering 90% of active players are at that point. However as a newbie it can be demoralising when all I get from hunts are 50 staff of skys and blood armour galore.

repeatable quests would be perfect -
400 magma for a hard - intense stinger tier wep
600 magma for a hard - intense Gorshak tier wep (weekly)
800 boar for a hard - intense stinger tier wep
1000 boar for a hard - intense Gorshak tier wep (weekly)

I can then decide if i want to grind 400 mags or 800 boar for my wep quest

- or you could keep the same as above grind, however give a cache including all weps / titus armour

Anyone got links to download the esoma dB?

The reality of the situation is that Dan ain't got time to redo the vod drop files so as a community we could help him out on this one.
I work in SQL and know the esoma db well enough to give Dan reworked drop files so if anyone wants to work with me on this get in touch...

Changing drop rates and what mob drops what is not hard to do.. Dan could easily do this in an hours work..

I understand hes busy with RL stuff but in a sense he is the GM of this game and his responsibility to keep it going, Which he has and we all massively respect and appreciate him for this.

However If he doesnt have the time etc then he should pass this on and maybe recruit a new GM team to help him out. Anyone with any small computer knowledge can work on SQL and change things its not hard lol.

If a complete mob drop overhaul is to be completed then it'd take far far longer than you think it would. If there are 20 mobs in TYT approx 15 in Merc, (cba counting the other 7 maps) and at least 40 bosses AND the whole of Dsoma all requiring an overhaul, its going to take more than an hour.

And whilst overhauling mobs it would be nice if their stats were changed so all the redundant mobs were viable alternatives with a different but equally lucrative dropfile

Only the main hunted mobs would need doing imo.

You get to trolls in a matter hours hours really so maybe start from there

Depends who you are, what you know of the game and how long you have to play really. Focusing on the mainstream of mobs would be beneficial to start on, but in reality, it should all be done because the reason why the standard path is the standard path is because everything else is shitter in every way, thus it should be fixed.

Mags are the named end game mob to hunt for drops.. Yet u spend 10 hours of your life there for 1 decent drop.. u go to anviil and boom its RIP, 10 hours wiped out.. Motivation to go back disappears, Player then leaves game and goes and plays a game thats more rewarding and less grindy, As they havent got time to waste grinding on soma.

Usercount has and is diminishing because of the hard grind, We are all knocking on now, Most of us are 25+ with kids wives and rentboys to pay for... no1 has 10 hours a day to farm and waste there life on...


To change 1 or 2 mobs would not be a pain or hard to do.. It simply just needs doing for the good of the game and for the future,

The comment about the rich get richer is correct, but there is only so far u can go with gear..

For example: Subxero has full +5 set and +8bow - char complete.... He cant upgrade or get better than that.. So he doesnt "improve" on his gear. as he physicaly cant upgrade his gear any more..

An increase in drop rates means - The "poorer" have a now easier/faster time to get +5 set and +8 bow therefore becoming more on par with Subs gears.
This is a bad thing for Sub but brings in an incentive to people who are struggling to actually achieve gear like sub

Therefore the rich get richer comment/example does not work... In the end everyone ends up the same.

You may think i want this/these changes to benefit me..
But i dont.. - Reasoning:

I have an archer with +8bow and +5armor set
I have a tank with full +5/8 full set of gear..
I have a mage with +5/8 full set of gear...
I cant really improve on these gear sets because there would be no reason to and ive hit the gear cap.

I dont want a change for me i want it for everyone else...
I want to play with all my friends again, i dont want to see messages from theem saying i havent got the hours to grind or the time to log on or whats the point playing all evening when i get nothing.. People only feel its worth logging on for GVW because its fun and its something to do without the grind.

I am already at the end point of my gear for my chars for all i care leave the drop rates as it is... Myself and matty are bringing this to attention as we believe it would make the community grow and encourage more players to come back. As they can log on after work and play for a few hours and know for a fact they have a xx% of getting a tab or a wep or a drop and not a 1% chance of a drop in and amongst 35 YES 35 other items dropping from mags.. with around 25 of them items being IRRELEVANT

1% drop chance in 35 items that can drop. needs to be looked at.

(numbers may not be completely accurate but you get my jist)

Podcast is on Saturday were myself and matty will discuss this as the main talking point.

Please message me personally if you have any other suggestions or ideas.

Things are proly a lot simpler to solve....

1. revamp the drop files if gm's got some time, and mayb up the drops by some % .. so we get moar drops

2.possibly up the anvil success a little

3. keep the updates and levels coming.. and some new gears occasionally

4.make it a little easier for new players as brain suggested above

5. and all of this would proly be helped by a donation or 2 to give gm's a little more incentive...from reading all these threads and moans.. they might be a bit peeved that what they do isnt appreciated.

True to a degree, but you then start kitting out everyone in guild to the same extent...which you could argue is the name of the game, and should be to a degree...

But that's why I suggest the slightly more complex solution, seens as this is more of a PVE game with PVP elements.

Nightmares need CT and ToW adding to their droplist, along with a nm set v.2, nm set for 50 of your levels is depressing.

Or a quest to get a new mage set, similar to Titus, almost nothing new to look forwards to after 100 Int as a mage, except Zombie etc. and a staff change...that's one long and lonely road...
