On the face of it, the potting still negates the damage even with a 100% hit rate.

Since Player A got splattered, what have I missed in the data?

That should be it. As already mentioned, any reductions in recoil would quickly shift the DPS higher but we already know that.

Only other thing could be a bit of pot lag. Bringing it down from 2.5/s to 2.0/s would reduce your healing to 200 per sec. Even then, it should be a gradual decline and not see you dead within a few seconds.

No serums, no zombie (nice ideas)

Pot button but was being hammered and I know it isn't enough. With each hit a seemingly huge chunk of life vanished (I know the HP bottle is deceptive). Potting never got it back anywhere close.

This didn't happen once, it happened 5 consecutive times with two different players (one who has spoken up in this thread and one who has not).

So, there must be more to the attack not taken into account (serums and zombie great ideas!)

Have you tried asking the dude that splattered you what he was using?

Yes ....

One has posted here on this thread what he was using. The other remained "silent" in PM and didn't answer any questions (I don't suppose he has to).

At the moment, given the great lengths a number of people have gone to with data on this thread, it remains a mystery as to how it could be done.

I could add that both characters have their own guild with only a couple of other characters in them (same account, stores or whatever). Don't know if that has any relevance.

I could also add that one of the two was hunting BLGs before the PK and, presumably after. Don't know why a player with such advanced (and currently seemingly impossible) gear would be there. Rubies perhaps? What would he want with them when he has GOD mode enabled?

.... Still looking for answers if anyone has any thoughts ....

Back to the original question;

How can an attacking player "splat" a char with 195 defence dex without (seemingly) missing?

Splat = heave large chunks of life

(Without exploiting a bug or cheating)

it was worked out he has around 69% accuracy. with a fast wep with high damage. (maybe alot of base str too)
plus the old soma RNG. its just the way it is sometimes.

Thank you Azrayel.

However, you were firing a stinger at me ..... I'll assume Pan Claw though.

I'll work out the data and post.

I'm switching between weaps and also switching between armors, I switched to a str gear when i fire my aura and switch back to accu when you are on dodge, ty

Jac it really doesn’t matter. It’s a 2 decade old game that 30 people play.

Fringe,

We assumed base str of 200 throughout the data analysis. We also looked at min, max and average numbers in respect of the RNG. Whereas I can accept the RNG will go to extremes, it won’t “consistently” go to one extreme for an attacker and the negative extreme for the other player. Certainly it won’t do it for 5 separate attacks.

Ailmats,

I know. My main was PK’ed more times than spaghetti has been eaten in Italy. I created a new character and designed it to be “less easy” for PK’ers to trouble. In fact, I have spent all of 104 levels training dex and acquiring dex/eva stuff to make it more difficult to hit.

To now find that I can be utterly splattered by characters only a few levels higher that seemingly don’t miss is completely soul destroying. I want to know why it happens and, more specifically, to know whether there is any point progressing the character.

Azrayel,

Thank you again for added information. I had the dodge aura on the whole time (I have it on consistently) and do not use any other latent auras. (I use 4th when the cool down has worn off).

You had titus pads, titus helm, and hero top the whole time. I don’t remember what boots you were wearing but will adopt the +5 accuracy you state.

I will assume you have 200 and 152 dex (seems to be an assumption in your favour).

You stated you were wearing a +5 Rare OTM and also a +10 att necky. Not sure which you mean?

I will hold off with str calculations and focus on hit rate.

To save doing all the calculations from scratch:

With regards to hit rate, we know that the other attacker (Player B) had a 69% hit rate. We can adjust that based on what player C (Azrayel) has stated he was wearing.

Titus Helm +5 (assumed) = 11 accuracy
Titus boots +5 (stated) = 11 accuracy
Titus pads +5 (stated) = 7 accuracy
Hero top (Hero2?) (seen) = 5 strength

All accessories attack (stated)

Base dex (not stated) = 152 (assumed to be the same as Player B unless stated otherwise)

Player B stated 4x +7 accuracy armour + 4x +8 dex accessory pieces (total 28+32=60)

Player C states 11+11+7 = 29 accuracy

Player B – Player C = 31 less dex/accuracy

Player B hit rate was 69%
Less 31 dex/acc: Player C hit rate = 38%

At this stage, regardless of strength, there is not a “cat in hell’s chance” that 38% hit rate represents what happened.

For the sake of clarity, I did not see a single arrow miss (of course I might have missed one).

Also, for the sake of clarity; whereas I can accept the RNG might skew this, I cannot (as previously stated) accept that it would go to the same extreme on 5 consecutive separate occasions.

Additionally, although the damage is obviously higher (by a reasonable amount too),the DPS would be mitigated substantially by the lower hit rate.

Thoughts anyone?
