Just finished a new character to 30.0con. Thought I'd check the level and % now (as it's had some changes) Level 14, 98.86% got the 30con (on bugs in town). So level 15 for 30con start would almost perfect.

I was discussing this topic with Lupi in-game. As most people are aware, Lupi and I have made several characters, since the start, more than most, each time doing the 30con grind.

Both of us agree'd that the idea suggested in first thread would not only make the game more accessable to a genuine 'new player' but make it more open for current players, or returning players to start a new character and go through the leveling process again

The benefits of this are as follows;

Hunting areas seem populated, even lower level ones. Even if people are only using rested, it's usually at the most popular times of day. Giving the impression everywhere is busy and thriving.

New characters bring some item drops back into the economy that'd be otherwise only farmed at endgame when you weren't worried about wasting %.

New characters being made create the need for lower level weapons and thereby an economy for them.

A gamer that was looking for a retro game to play wouldn't read up to find out they needed to spend 10 days punching a bug to be competitive. They could just start a character and create a build from the get-go.

Older players with gen1 chars that just couldn't be bothered to start over will have 1 step to skip, making it more likely for them to do so.

I think that a 30con start on hsoma side, could realistically ONLY benefit the server and the population.

the only issue i find with the new characters is the heal for int cause its mostly done afk and as some1 has said earlier in the thread this change is mostly for people who gonna make another alt etc.

Returning players wont ever bother lvl a new character if their plan is to participate strictly to endgame activities which is mostly the case here.

lets face it soma doesnt attract new players made a friend of mine to download and try it and he logged off 5mins later saying "My PC is alergic to Soma".

Yes, original back playing. Tyrese is not me, I allowed Mitch to keep that character as he was using it as his main. However, Flickthebean, Flickthebum, Flicktheball, Tyrone and Tyrell are me. (and any characters in 'Craft' guild.

Welcomed myself back with a bit of light crafting and some anvil action:

Soma is always going to be a cruel mistress to keep.

I Feel that a giving new characters 30 con by default is a light kick in the nuts to some of the long term players here. These are the players who perhaps have less free time than others. The 30 con by default would mostly benefit those who have made and will continue to make newer generation characters, which are by in-game evolution usually better than older generation characters. As there are players who are in direct competition with each other i can't help but feel that the change would allow some to be at an advantage. Those who put the effort and passion into making newer and better have my respect and I would be happy for them if the change happens but the faster leveling and drop rates is hopefully enough.

Soma needs new blood to expand.. 100 or so hours for 30 con ( assuming the new guy knows what to do.. has barr for pots and a tank ..which he wont ) ..would put off the majority of new players...
Thats why we have a loyal hardcore of players..but very few totally new 1s.. mayb

the tank purely my issue, wouldn't mind so much if I could level up the tank wilst lvling up my new char, but hsoma mobs have a lot less hp than dsoma, so the tank end up killing way to fast, and then having to reset up some mobs and 2nd char is a ball ache(spawns are to spread out also)

I can burned 100 hours doing con quite easily wilst playing a 2nd char, could quite easily heal to 100 int if ppl would leave the bugs alone, and I wouldn't be afk at that either, just on another char, getting bugs again and setting up the chars every few mins becomes tedious

New players have no concept of Con and to give 30 con by default to a new player means they would have no appreciation of it thus having little effect on whether they remain playing long term or not.
If 30 con by default is implemented then all current players should be allowed it also. That's nice but you are then removing the con/hp dynamic from Hsoma. It would may aswell not exist, I don't feel cookie cutter builds would benefit the game. If it's about retaining the current player base then that's good but waters down the game, I don't have 30 con btw.
